I just talked with Tosh from Divergent Technologies, who by the way seems like a really great guy.

And I can order from him.

Now, I'm going to desperately find someone who has the player, so I can audition.

But you know, I've heard so many great things about this player....that I may just order it anyway.

I will take some time to think it over and search for an audition, though.

I'll be heading up to the New York/ New Jersey area in about a month or so. If I can wait that long, maybe I can find someone who has it and would be willing to let a strange(r) tree into their home, to listen to their Copland  :B

    Thank you Dave!

    You too.......Bam! 8)

All I can say about my precious COPLAND is if I had to choose thwe wife or the player.......hands down.........

      THE PLAYER!

Matching it with speakers and electronics was quite fruitful too!

      edit It`s David....not Dave...! (he`s a little finicky!)

Finicky? ME? :B Actually I do prefer David, especially since we have another regular here that goes by Dave. But hey, it's not a big deal. I'll generally answer to anything - as long as it's not sh**head or something. :alol:

          Good luck on the Copland!

PS. How'd you do with the 'canes? No problems I hope.

                    Okay, it's working now.

Hmmm, I wonder if the reviewer liked the unit? If I were a designer, I'd think that reviews like that could go straight to your head. :B

David......it's true......but it's quite an extensive review :B For sure with reviewers you have to take some and leave some!

                        Thanks Bam!

But I read that review ...about a month ago :B

While reviews can be useful, I prefer to read or hear the experiences of people like us; customers, owners of the component.

I never fully trust those reviewers...from magazines.......or certain Audio/Video websites.

Except when you know the reviewer and his likes and dislikes...

I have 2 buddies that write in a magasine.....I know how they think so I can completly depict the review from what they wrote and what they are saying

My 2-ch rig is much more modest than what you lot have listed, I call it my BritKit:

                            NAD C340 Integrated Amp
                            Cambridge Audio D300 CD Player
                            B&W DM601s2 Loudspeakers

I've built my other system with music as a first priority:

                            Rotel RSP-1066 Pre/Pro
                            Rotel RMB-1075 Power Amp
                            Arcam CD73T CD Player
                            Paradigm Reference Studio 100v3

                            Nice systems guys!

                                Bam!

I do most of my listening on the music/HT system with the MCH Rotels, the Arcam and the Paradigms.

If budget and wife would allow I'd have a pair of B&W Signature 800's, a pair of Class A monoblocks, a nice 2-ch preamp, Arcam's FMJ CD192, and a nice turntable for the day I inherit the 1000's of LPs and 45's my dad has.

I have been waiting to post a reply to thread until I got my last piece of equipment in. I just received my Pre-Amp. I only had to wait 2 1/2 months before it got hear! I am loving it. This is a very affordable tube based system.

                                              Bam,

The Cd player does not color the sound to my ears. When listening to Norah Jones, it is much easier to listen too. There was a big difference when I originally added the tube amp. The voices seemed much smoother. With the addition of the cd player, her voice, especially seemed easier on my ears. Not as digital, or synthesised. The bass also really changed. It is much lower and precise.

I was using a Denon 1600 as my CDP. It sounded really good but the ShengYa is in a different league when it comes to cd playback.

Is this the information that you were seeking?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that ShengYa CD-S10 Tube Cd Player, the exact same player, that they sell in Europe and the USA....but they call it the Vincent CD S6?

I believe that is correct. I read on a few forums that the ShengYa is the same company that makes the Vincent players.

Oh yeah... (puffs out chest). Actually, my HT is composed of a pair of 2-channel systems and it isn't quite as 'phile as some of the others already posted in this thread. But, it's not embarassing either.

I've run a patch into so many places on the mixer that depending on how I cue the channels and set the sliders, I can have 4.1 surround (phantom center), 2.0 stereo, 2.1 stereo, F/R stereo with fader, cross-mixed stereo, FM from the receiver into the mains, mono for PA, etc. In fact, I've used it as the sound system for the company picnic.

The SACD player is not what I would call great, but the system is resolved enough to tell me the difference between DSD and PCM. I have to do it in the middle of the night after the bars close, before the stockbrokers start waking up, and without the fridge compressor or the computer fan running, but I can attest to it. SACD just has a smoothness throughout the whole range, like the difference between Olympic gold or a silver medal.

The weak link is the sub... which doesn't go low enough and is muddy enough that I don't bother with it unless I want to feel the dinosaurs roaming the earth.

                                                              Fantasy upgrades?

                                                              1) Mackie 824 monitors for mains, relegating the Yorkvilles for surround and moving the Tannoys into dual centers.
                                                              2) Pair of Copland YBA Pre5's so I can get remote volume control and still get all speakers into mono/stereo party mode.
                                                              3) Ultra-smooth source (that will be fun shopping)
                                                              4) M&K sub
                                                              5) PMC actives to relegate the Mackies into center duty with Tannoys moved into center surround.

I'm curious, why aren't there more people with studio monitors? I find them to be huge bang for buck. Not only do the speakers sound great, but you also get a decent pair of amps and active cross-overs.

                                                              ensen.

Seriously, these are a very nice value in tube amplifiers, especially monoblock tube amps, at just under $4K for a pair. The only drawback compared with a "high end" solid state amp of the same power is that they won't be quite as graceful with lower impedance loads, and the power won't go up much going from 8 ohms to 4 ohms.

For a lot of folks, though, the high value ticket would probably be the Stereo 90 amplifier, which get's you within 2 dB of the same power, at half the cost. Most of their ampsa are switchable between triode mode and pentode ultralinear mode; they all use cathode biasing (easy to swap different tube types; no manual re-biasing) with mu follower drivers, so linearity is above average, but they run a little hotter than average, also.
