Blasted grado stylus broke, any recommendations for replacement

I was listening to an album tonight and noticed it didnt sound right, I then noticed my grado needle was bent to one side, tried to straighten it but it just broke%*&@#..oh well, I now need a replacement and want to try something other then grado..

I want a kickA@@ needle for not much money  is there such a thing ? and does anybody reccomend against a used needle? (doesnt sound like a good idea). I have a project 1.2 TT and my next question is, instead of paying alot of money for just a stylus should I go ahead and get a better TT with cartidge (it seems cheaper this way)...any suggestions apreciated

It is hard to answer your question without a budget. Ortofon makes some great inexpensive needles. You may want to look at the OM20 or the OM30. Shure also makes a good cartridge without breaking the bank. The Needle Doctor seems like a pretty good place to buy from, http://www.needledoctor.com
They may even be able to fix your old cartridge. If you decide to buy a new TT there are so many great choices these days. Remember, vinyl isn't for nostalgia, it is the best high resolution music playback system, with tons of software available, you can get at the present.

      Bob,

Yea I kinda left of costs because I dont want to spend much but if thats what it takes to get the sound I want then Ill have to bite the bullet. For an example I see used MMF7 turntables with eroica cartridges for around 550.00 or so. If I were to go out and just buy the cartridge by itself would cost ~250.00 or so. Since I only have the project 1.2 table, it almost seems as if I should sell it at 150.00 or so without cartridge and then spend an extra 400.00 or so and get a used mmf7 complete, instead of spending almost as much in the end for a sytlus... I will go to needledoctor to get an idea of costs for stylus's you mentioned, thanks

Looking for new cartridge + stylus - Help appreciated
        by kiko
        Hi everyone

I am shopping for a new cartridge + stylus for my turntable, or so I think. I currently own an entry-level Stanton T50x turntable bought 5 years ago when I wasn't too sure going back to vinyl would be as exciting and feasible as it is now. I run that Stanton through a Yamaha...

        Replacement Phono Cartridge/Stylus
        by Susan
Can any of you recommend a a good cartridge/stylus discounter? I need to replace the stylus on my Sony direct-drive (PSFL-72 II) but the Shure site doesn't recommend a replacement model. I'd love to buy just a replacement stylus, but realize this may not be possible as the cartridge (N110HE Shure) is...

Halo JC 3 -- a step up from previous phono preamps in my system
        by Burke Strickland
A while back on this forum in a discussion about the Halo JC 1 power amps & JC 2 BP preamp that I am enjoying in my 2 channel music system, Chris D predicted that the next hi-fi component I would buy is the JC 3 phono preamp. At the time I wasn’t sure that was in the cards. I recognized its...

Taking vinyl LP playback via my Parasound JC3 yet another step up
        by Burke Strickland
A while back, I added a Parasound JC3 phono preamp to my system. At the time, I was pleased with how well it worked with the JC2 BP line level preamp and JC1 mono block power amps to deliver truly enjoyable sound from vinyl LPs via my Magnepan 20.7 speakers.

        Since then, I've heard demos...

        Turntable recommendations
        by Kevin_McC
Last year I got back into vinyl, but before buying a nice TT I figured I'd get a cheaper used one to try first to see if I would really still enjoy LP's.

Well as it turns out I listen almost exclusively to LP's, so I want to get a better turntable. I have three older TT's that I've been...
