    I take Exception to that!

    Revox Exception-

I hope this image displays. Just curious your take on this one? Not for me, just looking.

Here's what they say about it:

    E 450 Amplifier

At 200 watts RMS per channel, the E 450 amplifier, the core unit of the Exception system, delivers a stunning sound reproduction. Sporting connectors for two pairs of loudspeakers and up to eight components as well as two outputs for recording, the E 450 is ready to meet today's and tomorrow's requirements. Extremely short signal paths of the input circuit, low-noise operational amplifier's pre- and power sections add up to an impeccable sonic performance.

    E 426 CD Player

The E 426 CD player is a user-friendly top loader that allows you to change CDs easily and quickly. As it carries latest generation Hall motor drives, there are no mechanical influences while the discs are read, which makes the E 426 a lifelong companion. As far as signal processing is concerned, we strictly separated the digital from the analogue path by employing two transformers and two power supply circuit to eliminate possible mutual influencing. Top quality components ensure an optimum conditioning of the signals which are fed in their purest form to the outputs. Balanced and single-ended connectors act as interface to external equipment. Two digital outputs enable you to directly record your CDs on DAT or MiniDisc.

Or if you read what, German?

I have no idea if it's any good but you have to give it to them for being original. In the CE world I I'd do everything I could think of to be little different. Kind of the "baffle them with bullshit" theory only using optics!

Revox is a well respected brand in Europe -- and they used to supply a lot of professional reel-to-reel tape gear in this country. I have an old Revox A-77 tape deck that accepts up to 10 1/2" reels sitting in my HT (of course it hasn't been used in years). :>)

Their "standard" components have always been a bit off-beat in design, but rock solid engineering and high quality construction typically makes their gear perform well -- and last "forever" Of course, I have not had any experience with the model on display above, so I cannot vouch for its performance.

              Burke

PS -- none of their gear has ever been mistaken for "budget" goods. :>) IOW, plan to write a BIG check for anything they make. :>)

What you DON'T say may be held against you...

I think the most interesting thing about the design is, you could stack 5 of them on a table, and it still look like it's in a rack! 8)

Yeah, come to think of it, I remember Revox from way back in the dark ages too Burke.

I have been a lurker on this forum for about a year looking for a pair of speakers to build. Jed seems to be held in high regard around here and I liked his design philosophy (not many 3 ways have 10" woofers) anyway around Christmas I picked up his demo pair of M5W's (which have a XT25, SBA5",...

Nope, not pool. Thinking new racks here. I got my sights set pretty high, well both price wise and "height" wise. Currently, I am using a Pioneer Elite rack that originally matched my PRO-119 perfectly. Now that I went FP, well, that match thing is no longer a consideration. I do have a real...

Customizing The Dayton Aluminum Binding Post Back Plate
                    by 64NOMIS
I have been customizing the Dayton binding post back plate from partsexpress.

I needed a small rear plate with four holes for four connectors. The crossover is in the unit base and for no good reason I am running two ground lines up (well, I guess the cable is paired...). So I bought...
