Definitive Technologies 7.1 In-Wall Speaker recommendations needed

so far for my HT, I've settled upon Yamaha RX-V1800 and Sammy HL61A750. I know I want Definitive Technologies for Speakers, (my rec Room HT has Def Tech Speakers and I LOVE THEM), but I'm not sure what I need since I'm new to 7.1 configurations. Do I need bipole/dipole? Do they go on the sides? Back? Both? Other? I need some help on speaker selection/configuration please! Thanks!

I quickly hit the Dolby site looking for a current "suggestion" from them on surround speakers for 6.1, 7.1, etc. systems and didn't find anything of note concerning di-pole vs. direct-radiating. It used to be that for Dolby Surround and early Dolby Digital (both 5.1) the recommendation was for di-pole surrounds, but with the emergence of more channels, better soundtracks, better speakers, better components and better processing the choice switched over to direct-radiators. I've not pursued this in a year or two so my knowledge could be out-of-date.

As far as set-up, here's Dolby's page on EX. Speaker Setup

    I hope this helps.

          Some Good News From Dolby
          by Aussie Geoff
          Hi,

          Imagine uncompressed surround sound……

For those that haven't seen it, my friend and HTgude member Matt Stacey pointed out the information in this LINK FROM DOLBY to me.

If you ignore the continuing HD-DVD / Bu-Ray madness, it is a win on several fronts.

          New Member and RPS-1098 Question
          by lcajiga
Hi all, I have been lurking in this site for some time since I purchased my RSP-1098 back on February 2003. I received the unit last week and installed it. I used to have an RSX 1065 with very good results. Only problem is that analog inputs were considerable louder than digital ones (optical and coaxial)....

          inwall/onwall surround

i have searched and found that several people have posted questions about modifying one of the existing projects to work as in inwall. the issue seems to be the depth limitation and i saw mentioned that if you had a 2x6 it would be much better. common practice for building a theater today is to use...

Anyone using Definitive Tech surrounds with the B7W mains?s
          by Steve Ruddy
I want to up grade my 5.1 system to a 7.1 and am having a hard time with the cost of B&W DS8S. My past auditioning has led me away from B&W for my center channel speaker and I went with a Definitive Tech because of the much fuller sound. I'm thinking on the same lines for the dipole or bipolar...
