Dang, talk about a flash back, including the bit about beer and pretzels at the Englisher Gartens.
Munich is the headquarters for the company I work for, and even though I live in the SF Bay area for over 20 years, I know Munich much better than San Francisco. Of course, I've actually lived and worked in Munich for months at a time, which I've never done in SF, as I live in the East Bay area, and only occasionally go into the city.
Would have been fun to be there- high end audio in Germany is a real trip.

Yeah, you lived in the area I usually stay in when there- near the Isar river, on Rosenheimer Strasse, usually either the Hilton or the hotel slightly closer to the city which used to be the Penta Forum International but now is a Holiday Inn, and actually pretty nicely remodelled- really cleaned up the rooms and the restaurant areas.
I love the Deutches Museum, but was a little disappointed when they moved the aviation section out to Oberschleißheim in Northerm Munchen; not quite as convenient to get to, and it was my favorite part. Besides the central city, I've spent a fair amount of time in Schwabing as well as the Englischer Gartens; there's an amazing amount of variety you can find there, from Irish pubs, great Italian restaurants, Greek, Slovak, and even a "classic" American steakhouse, the Blockhouse on Leopoldstrasse. My big favorites for eating though are the Italian restaurants, the one I used to frequent most often was the Tassilo on
I usually only get there once or twice a year now, because most of the business units I'm engaged with were moved from Munchen to Villach Austria in 2003.

by JonMarshMy experiences with Vincent Brient and TotalDAC go back to about 2010, when a colleague of mine in Munich had an opportunity to borrow a TotalDAC-D1 on the occasion of a visit on business to Munich, and we spent quite a few hours listening to it in comparison to some other well known high end brands...-

by Shane MartinI was pretty wishy-washy with regards to seeing this movie but alas I decided to beat the 105F heat and humidity and head over to the local multiplex. We're lucky to have big stadium style theaters with great A/V. I had a gift card too so the cost was zero to me.
My intitial expectations...-

i have added a link to Jon Marsh's "Munich Report" thread here because it deserves as much exposure as possible in that it exemplifies a personal, hard-learned truth about our hobby/passion for the accurate & realistic reproduction of music in our homes.
