    Speaker Auditioning CD?

I'm about to attempt a nice speaker auditioning cd and I was curious what well recorded songs everyone likes for displaying the different qualitys of speakers. For example a song that can showcase a broad soundstage, or a song that could show off a speakers ability to produce airy highs or display imaging abilities. Thanks in advance!

Good question, I'd be interested to hear others' opinions.

For me, I know I say this all the time, but I'd probably again use "Money for Nothing" from Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms 20th Anniversary Edition DVD-A.

:T My all time favorite would have to be Brothers in Arms, but I have the the remastered CD. I'm getting the 20th Anniversary DVD-A soon, but is it noticeably better than the remastered CD?

Santana Abraxas remastered. This will give speakers a work out.

Dunno about the DVD-A but the SACD is certainly superior, even to the XRCD.

I'd avoid trying to showcase specific traits by using specific pieces of music that you don't own or won't realistically listen to. Use the music you typically listen to and enjoy, it will make the best test cd for YOU.

I'm partial to Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon SACD , especially the track 'Brain Damage'. 'Break Your Heart' from Natalie Merchant's "Retrospective 1995-2005"(try to place the horns), and Heart's 'Sing Child Sing' from the Dreamboat Annie album-there is a telephone ring effect that some speakers turn into a shrill single note.

My 20th Anniversary Edition of Dire Straits Brothers In Arms arrived from Acoustic Sounds today. I have listened to the SACD 5.1 Surround mix once and my initial impression is that this is an absolutely "must have" great recording.

I have been very disappointed withl a number...

I have always heard how well produced this CD was but until yesterday I'd never heard it. I own their Money for Nothing CD which is good but Brothers's is really well done. I got the remastered version at a used CD shop so the price was even better

                          Hello,

We (80x owners) likely have the age where we bought our albums on vinyl, or made copies from friends on compact cassette. Later I bought the cd' s.
As you aware a lot of the good albums albums are now rereleased as remastered version + bonus track+ sometimes dvd.
