    CD Transport: Need advice

I'm currently investigating possibilities for a CD transport in the moderate (=or< $1000) price range. I need some advice please.

I say transport as I intend to use a digital connection to my pre/pro so the analog capabilities of the unit are not significant.

I use the Rotel RCD-1072, and coupled with an external DAC makes a fantastic transport IMO.

I like ARCAM transports. In this price range I'd suggest the CD73T.

Do you ever see something on the web and right away, your first reaction is "I gotta have one, muy pronto!"

For whatever reasons, the new Denafrips Avatar CD transport struck that chord for me.

My Sony 7700 DVD/CD player arrived on monday so last night I set to listening to two identical copies of a CD (both on CDR) one in the 7700 and the other in my Sony CX-335 300 disk megachanger. Both transports were optically connected to my Sony TA-E9000ES pre amp and set to 2 channel mode (no DSP's...

Halo C1 DAC's and Transports together better ?
        by misterdoggy
Here's a new angle. Suppose one were to buy just a transport, quality transport that has no DA. considering the Halo C1 has quality DAC's why not just a transport to play Cd's and Dvd's ? Are there any downsides ?

I am considering a Ayre Transport that plays both CD and Dvd but it needs...
