Here's an older image of mine. The rear-access door was open at the time, so you get a nice peek into the master bedroom closet.
What you are looking at is a closet I built to house my Lovan Classic II isolation rack. Each piece of the rack has steel-shot filled legs and the entire rack rests on isolation points set directly on the concrete slab of the house. Each shelf sits on rubber cushions to further minimize vibrations.

This one I bought from CC for ~200 bucks if I recall. I like it, I am waiting to get my new DVD player then a rewire and re-org (Rotel going on the top) and I'll hide the wiring better.

But seriously, nice racks guys. Mine is a Pioneer Elite from several years ago without the door. It's very functional for me, but someday, I thought about updating to a Billy Bags rack.

whoops, my gear is not up to date there.

I bought this one:

Studiotech PS-6BK from racksandstands.com
Free shipping and it came early. The Factory sent me the rack 2 day air... I was impressed. Seriously Racksandstands.com is quite good. One of the best online buying experiences I've ever had.
I paid $319.
If you want a pic of it in my living room, let me know.- Bottom

Mike,
Have you considered moving your mains out towards your listening position? Look at my photo - see how the speakers have nothing between them? You get a MAJOR improvement in your soundstage! Just for kicks, pt on some music you are very familiar with and listen to a couple of songs, then move the mains out so that the backside of the speaker is a couple of inches out past the front of the RPTV/rack. Put the same two songs on and listen again.
Let us know what you think..

I thought the front speakers should be even with the TV? Or are you saying they should be further from the wall itself? I know the closer to the wall, the more bass, right?

I have TV, DVD player, cable box, wireless transmitter, wireless remote switcher and VCR in the master bedroom and TV, VCR and wireless receivers in the other bedrooms. The VCRs permit family members to record off CATV and view the tapes in the other rooms.Originally posted by Wayne A. PflughauptNicely done, Glen! Thanks for the compiment Bing, the irony here is that I have been thinking of getting your rack to replace mine... I've looked around for the best price on that vantage point... where did u get the extra shelf? LOL wanna tade? J/K
The wood for my rack is just beech plywood for the shelves and legs. I framed the front and side edges with varous prefabricated baseboard/crown moldings cut to the needed length from home depot to hide the ugly interior of the plywood and give it a nice look. I believe they were beech too. I stained the whole thing with minwax red mohogany 225 and put on 3 or so layers of polyurothane. I actually wanted it to be darker... I should have put a 2nd or 3rd coat of stain on it. I included a pic of it without any componets but It's still wet from the last coat of gloss.

Anthony, if you were local we would be talking. Nice job! Seeing that rack inspires me to build my own. Thanks for the finishing technique :T
The extra shelf for mo Vantage came from my dealer. I was actually able to custom order the size (height) I wanted. It is a nice solid rack, however it has no cable management. As such I use Panduit velcro tape to hold the wires neatly in a stack.Bing- Bottom

My rack is one that I built years ago. It started out as two seperate towers that flanked a 50" Toshiba RPTV. When we moved into the house i merged the two units together and recessed them into the wall.

Two Channel System Now Complete!
Hi Guys,
Finally got my stereo rack yesterday (early Christmas present from wife). I've attached an image of the completed setup. The electronics are all from ShengYa in China (had it shipped directly from there saving a huge amount of money over Australian retail prices). It's all valve hybrid gear and sounds great. For speakers I'm using Orpheus Aurora 3's (Australian made). All the interconnects are Kingcats and the speaker cables are Cattails courtesy of Doug @ Catcables.
I also meant for this to be in the thread "Lets see all the nice racks you guys have" but some how I stuffed up and posted it as a new thread...
ops:
cheers,

Classy looking components and nice rack, too. Thanls for giving us a peek, even if we have to take your word for it on how it sounds. :>) (If it sounds even one-tenth as great as it looks, you won't have any reason to upgrade for a LONG time.)

Beautifull setup Stephen! Thanks for being such a great CAT supporter too. I'm thrilled that you love your cables.
Your rack looks amazingly like a rack I have in my bedroom. I'll shoot a pic soon for you to see. It's different, but very close in appearance.

G'day,
I meant to ask this question when you posted about your CD player in aus.hi-fi (or was it aus.audio-visual.home-cinema?) -- a valve in a CD player?... It's all valve hybrid gear and sounds great.

by HammieI'm looking for advice on whether I need to look into additional isolation other than the provided pads for my HTM3s?
As you can see in the below picture, it is sitting directly on top of my A/V cabinet. The cabinet has a glass inlaid in the top of the cabinet, if it matters.
