    Fixing a B&W DM602 s2 crossover

    Hi Guys,

I need a hand to fix a crossover for a set of B&W DM602 s2 speakers. I picked them up as a "for parts" sale, and since they had been so badly mistreated I thought I would help them to feel better. So far tweeters repaired, but I need help on a crossover. The two damaged parts are in the top left hand corner of the attached photo. The are the 1r8 7w wire wound resistor, and the 100v 6u8 polyester capacitator. Any recommended replacements for these out there?

How do you know they are bad? The best way for testing them , is off the board.

Hi there, Thanks for your reply. The resisitor is missing [there is a massive burn mark where it used to be], the other is burnt down one side from when I assume the resistor burnt out. No ide where to look to replace these. Cheers.

Sounds like it would be worth upgrading them at the same time. There should be values on them that you can use to find higher quality parts. Pulling it apart and testing each component wouldn't be a bad idea as well.

You may end up building a hole new board and adding a new input cup
It’s hard to update those little boards with new and better parts.
First thing to do , is to map out the parts and Measure out all the values. You can reuse the coils. It’s hard to kill them, and you don’t t have to be dead nuts on with the values. If it call for a 2.2uF, and you can only find a 2.0uF
          That’s close enough.
