Well I think I can safely go ahead and build the other one. This one sounds great! I cross from the Nat P to the bass bin at 220Hz, from the bass bin to my sub at 60Hz. I had to turn the gain for the bass bin all the way up, however. I wired the two 4 ohm drivers in series for an 8 ohm load. I thought that would be better for the amp than in parallel which would be a 2 ohm load. Now that its finished I can go back to studying, next week I'll make the other one!

      Hey, those look cute. :B
      Good work there Jim.
I am betting you will love those dual 12's. :T

Yo, BigJim. Do you have a skecth of your setup? I mean wiring from Preamp to Amps to Active Crossover to Speakeers to Bass Bins to Sub? My head is still trying to get around this configuration.

No sketch, but maybe I can explain it.

Sub out on preamp to in on BFD1124. BFD1124 out to sub amp, that's it for the sub.

Left main out on preamp to left in on CX2310 crossover. CX2310 has left out low that goes to one channel of my amp which powers the bass bin, and a left out high that goes to another channel of my amp that powers the Nat P. The right side is exactly the same just substitute right for left.

The hardest part is finding all the right interconnects - balanced to unbalanced, rca to XLR female, XLR male to rca...

I'll see what I can sketch up if you need it.

          Jim

You looking for something like this.
            This is my receiver-------->cx2310----------->amps
I think is the same setup as Jim.

Is that the Outlaw 990 pre/pro combo.
                Nice looking stuff.
                How do you like them.
If I lived in the U.S. I would of bought that instead of my Yamaha RXV1600.
                Their(outlaw) monoblocks look good.

Actually, so would a 3 channel Bryston.
Damn, that devil on my shoulder is talking again.

Its a 970, the 990 has XLR outputs that would have made all this much easier. I like it quite bit, though I must confess I have little else to compare it to. It was my first foray into multi channel HT. It replaced a Carver CT-3 pre-amp that was only 2 channel, and at least 13 years old. I figured I needed an upgrade when I built my subwoofer and realized I had no preamp sub out to hook it to. :B Of course it was quite an improvement. The amp is their 7125 which has...7 channels @ 125w @ 8ohms. I got it B-stock for $100 off regular price and it works like a champ.

                  Watch out for that devil!

Last update until summer vacation. I finished the second bass bin and will live with them as they are until I can take the time to veneer them when classes end. They do sound awesome! I don't know how much my neighbors appreciate them though. I'm going back to listening! :B

                          Jim-

I love your Nat P + bins build.

I'm considering Nat P's and possibly putting bins under my L and R. How significant was the improvement after adding the bins?

                          Thanks,

Why not upgrade the crossovers to Modula MTM?

I would say it was significant enough to be worth the time and money invested. Taking the LF load off of the 7" mids allows much cleaner sound especially at higher SPL. I can also cross to my sub at a lower frequency, or just not use the sub at all, which I think sounds a bit more natural when listening to music.

I don't think my electronics are high end enough for me to notice much of a difference for the considerable price. At this point, when I upgrade the electronics I was thinking of building some of Jon's new 3 ways with the RS52 mid to put on top the bass bins. :B
