    Ron,

I'm sure Jon and I can take a pair each, maybe more. He's out of town so I won't be able to contact him until later in the week.

We can forgo the PayPal charges by just sending you a cashiers check/ money order

Jon, would you mind emailing me the crossover for Thomas' wall mounted M8A/XT25 speaker? I understand that this does not use ANY baffle step compensation, so in fact I could build the box to any width that I wanted, as long as it was mounted to the wall. Is that correct? I have an idea for a hybrid dipole speaker, using passive between mid and tweeter, with active compensation for the dipole rolloff on the mid, going to an active crossover for a woofer. This would be for my smaller living room upstairs, not the basement system where I'll still do the ported M8A MKIV box.

      Thanks,
      Ron

        Ron,

The XO for my wall mount boxes are for the M8a-MKIII design with the Focal TC120 tweeter. They can't be used with the XT25 tweeter in the M8a-MKIV design.

The tweeter crossover for the M8 MKIV could be used in concert with the LF crossover of the wall mount MkIII, as long as the LPAD values of the tweeter are adjusted.

I'll dig that stuff up and email to you within a day or so.

Sounds perfect Jon. If the crossover point is the same for both models, all I need is the lowpass for the M8A woofer.

            Cheers,

Mante has inquired about the SS9800 tweeter offer that I made. As I explained to him, we need to buy at least 6 pairs (I'm not getting a pair for myself, so it's up to you guys, I'm only offering to help out here). There are a bunch of extra's involved, Canadian GST (7%), shipping from Solen to me, Paypal fees (sorry Thomas, I've had a bunch of problems with Postal money orders etc. over the last few years), packaging and shipping from me to the final buyer. Not sure that it would be all that much cheaper in the end.

                    Cheers,
                    Ron

Ron, I should be sending some JPEGs with modded crossover data either at lunch time or this evening, depending on the work load in the office today (sometimes I end up working through lunch- Mondays are the biggest candidate for that foolishness!).

Re the SS9800, I don't think Thomas and I have near term needs that would make a large buy practical; I'm probably buying a pair in the next week or two, but I think that's it for the near term. But maybe not, as there's another project. I'll know more in a week or so.

                        Hi Jon,

Looking forward to seeing the crossover. Don't let them make you work through lunch! How barbaric.

Since neither you nor Thomas have any need for more SS9800 tweeters, I think the group buy is pretty much dead in the water, sorry Mante. If things change in the next few weeks, that's okay by me although Solen has already warned me of a 5% price increase Sept. 1 (that's why I want to get my crossover purchase into them this week).

                        Cheers,
                        Ron

It's not "them" that make me do it, it's the workload.

BTW, you've got mail. Crossover data.

This new gig looks to be 50/50 for the Singapore development group and the US. Have to see how that works out. My boss is happy because it gives him an excuse to get a new guy to replace my missing 50%.... so he comes out ahead, hopefully. And I'll probably get all the frequent flyer miles I can use... it's a long, LONG way to Singapore! I'll probably be there two more times this year, as it stands.

I'm probably going to oder a set of 9800's tomorrow or Wednesday, but that's all I'll probably afford for a while- though I've got a new small project in the works due to a "steal" purchase on HDS 850439; this will be for surrounds, and I'm just debating between the 9800, and some of the Excel models. I'm pretty comfortable getting the results I like from the 9800, but even Milleniums would be less expensive... I suppose most folks would consider either WAY overkill with a 6-1/2" woofer of any kind, but... the high's are so critical, and as long as you can use the woofer just in it's pistonic range, and the Xmax and distortion are OK, then it's not hard to get the lower mids and bass decent. Gotta think about this...
