    Questions on WTMW center

Is a horizontal center really a flawed design ? I have enjoyed these three centers as my mains for years and a member over at AVS has brought up his thoughts on the fact that horizontal centers are flaws, i dont know enough to argue the fact Lol

    The guy is an idiot.

There is a reason I no longer hang out on AVS.

Show me a design that isn't a compromise.

You choose which one you want to live with.

Based on how humans hear, it is more of a compromise than a pure vertical arrangement would be, BUT - the probability that at any of your seats it's worth mentioning is... small. For a WTMW with vertically aligned TM, at any rate. You have to look at your room, what you can work with, and pick the compromise that best suits your needs.

He's not wrong - but he's blowing it waaaaay out of proportion.

I went with the acoustically transparent screen just so I could keep vertical alignment, but even there I have to deal with lobing: I only have one futon, and sometimes folks sit on the floor in front.

Thanx guys, i didnt take it too much to heart as my hand was held most of the way during my 3 speaker build with you guys.

I have played around with lowering the XO point to 60hz and 40hz, the RS225's really are impressive. Leaving them at 80hz allows me to correct any bass issues alot easier...ho hum.

          Powering the RS WTMW
          by kgveteran
I was wondering if a separate thread of how we are powering the center would be helpful. With it's 4 ohm load and dual woofers, what do you guys use.It would be a nice reference that wasn't caught up in the 44 pages that now exist.

I was thinking of two amps that would suit it well.One...

What would some pitfalls of the center ch. that has dual woofers along with a midrange and tweeter. My thought is to build a mother of all centers (kind of ) with dual eight inch woofers a six inch mid and a silk dome or textile dome tweeter.

Would I have a huge problem using three of...

Dreaded sound difference in one main WTMW
          by kgveteran
Well, after trying to calibrate my system using Audyssey, i discovered my right main seems to be a little bass shy.

I have three WMTW centers as mains. I need to get some sweeps recorded to see what or where the problem lies.

I have a ratshack meter, any chance there...

Summary of key information from the 3-way WTMW / TMWW thread
          by rumatt
I have spent hours trying to wrap my head around all the information contained on the 3-way WTMW / TMWW thread. It's extremely hard to extract the key information because of a number of reasons: most of the updated designs occur somewhere deep in the thread, and the first post has not been updated...
