The cone material looks little like Seas ER18RNX. Do they have some relationships?

The new Wilson speaker's Mid also looks very similar. Are they Seas drivers?

They're custom driver from SB Acoustics. I've learned this from a reliable source.

It seems like a lot of high end manufacturer use SB drivers nowadays (eg : check Verity audio tweeters)

        Thanks for the information.

It seems that SB makes some nice drivers with resonable price.

          Neo D Cc

Will the new NEO D CC ever see the light of day? I missed the last train because of the discontinued tweeter, but have remained hopefull.

I'm likely going to be building one of these for my GF's HT system this year, so the answer is yes- a replacement tweeter is possible, but I haven't found as low cost a solution yet. Haven't looked recently either, though... will probably start looking into that that in late spring, once the Isiris are finished. Along with the updated Ardent, those are my next priorities.

I've been looking at a LOT of tweeters, regarding the NeoD CC problem; and I may have a solution involving a little extra mechanical work; remains to be seen, but it's not out of the question.

Main candidate is the Seas H1208-6, a 3/4" dome with a surprisingly extended low end and a nice balance of on axis and 30 degrees off axis performance.

As something of a lucky bonus, the impedance and response curve similarities make it look at first blush that it can be an electrical drop in, though not mechanical.

It WILL require a sacrificial truncation fixture (trimming the polymer front plate) and an additional rear plate besides that in the existing design used for front panel reinforcement. Not sure if all the details will work, but this will give me the opportunity to do a build to test this for GF, to replace the temp NHT I have in her center channel position, which is quite better than what was there, but which isn't "right" by a long shot.

Will be updated as this develops.

I'm also considering a complete MKII design with extensive rework, including crossover. As if I have the spare time for that! ;-)

Follow Up- Small form factor SB Acoustics Tweeter

Since the Ardent thread or Three Way Design study are not where people will look for info about this (though it's posted there!) note that I have a pair of small form factor SB Acoustics tweeters that look VERY good on paper for this application and others, should be hear by middle of next week. Nice frequency response, good dispersion, good Xmax (which implies low distortion even at higher playback levels), and the right form factor. Huzzah!

I'm excited to have a potential solution in hand after all this time... my GF is too, because that means there will be a new NeoD CC build for her family room!
