Is it a mid? A line-array driver? A multimedia woofer? :E

Looks like it's a full-range-line-array driver, according to Mr. Murphy's review and link. Hopefully he'll be posting some measurements on his site.- Bottom

Hmm, looks like a re-badged Aura NS3. Decently smooth wide range driver, but it would have some serious competition in the 3" Fountek or the RS100. Unless there's something different on the inside, but externally it's an Aura NS3.- Bottom

Didn't Dan N. use the RS90 in one of his projects?- Bottom

Yea, Ryan, I used it as the mid in my SoundRounds. I loved the midrange it has. This is not the same driver, however. Mine was sold as a HiVi B3A-B buyout, but it was well known that it was the ill fated RS90. It was not Neo and used a round cast frame, not a stamped steel frame.Dan N.- Bottom

4 mm linear Xmax, does look an awful lot like an NS3 performance wise., including the very low sensitivity (80-82 dB). But what do you expect with that cone size and that much Xmax in a small driver? With an RMS power rating of 20 watts, it will produce about the same SPL as a more conventional driver with an RMS power rating of 5-6 watts. Might make a cute small MTM for lower SPL applications with the right tweeter, if you can keep the crossover low enough in component count.the AudioWorx

It should do quite well as a computer speaker or similar, also.diVine Sound - my DIY speaker designs at diVine Audio- Bottom

Oh, I beg to differ guys. I used a pair of the HiVi B3A-B (the original Dayton RS90) in a WMTM in my SoundRounds omni project with an Aura NT1 tweeter and a single RS225. The SoundRounds won their category (under $200 driver cost) at Dayton and won the budget class at Iowa in 2008. Don't sell these drivers short for a midrange in a low spl system, assuming they perform close to what he original RS90's did. They did a pretty good job of filling that theater in Iowa.
