    Help! Rs270 surround coming apart

    Alright.

One of the rs270's that I have is coming unglued. Literally.
The surround has come unglued from the cast frame 2-3".
Do I attempt to repair this myself, or do I take it to a shop and have it glued down.
I would call PE to replace it but paying all this shipping is literally killing me.

    Thanks
    Mike

You can glue down a surround with $.05 worth of contact cement

      That's it.
Should it be water-based or just the regular toxic stuff?
Is cc applied like normal? A little on both surfaces let dry 15-20 minutes and attach?
Should I remove it all and glue it down again?

I don't want to screw this up.

Only repair the lifted section. Use the nasty solvent based stuff.

Use the standard technique of application to both surfaces, drying time, then press in-place.

Only use this on rubber surrounds, don't try this on foam surrounds, they have special contact adhesives for that.

Try it on one of the ones the shippers trashed if you want to be sure it won't damage the surround.

All my RS270's are holding up beautifully in this respect, really odd.

Were you really hammering on it?
Not that should be a reason, just curious.

Hasn't even been installed yet.Right out of the box I inspect all my drivers and found that with a little light tapping on the cone the surround would lift.

I do plan on hammering on them eventually. :g> :g> :g>
