I will buy them from you! I am preparing a home theater setup- DIY projector screen, DIY egg crate walls, DIY couch, and now I need DIY speakers. I guess it's not DIY if I'm not building them but I always burn myself on solders :P. Do you guys have any DIY speakers you don't use? subs, floorstanding, especially monitors- all welcome deals as long as they are reasonable. I will pay via paypal. thanks guys.

How many times are we going to do this ?
hey guys, i've been surfing this forum as unregistered for a while. I been thinking about building an affordable pair ever since this semester started but the schoolwork is just getting bigger and bigger it seems. So, I was wondering, if you guys had a pair of speakers that are just laying around and wouldn't mind selling it to

I would say, very carefully.
I want an excuse to build something new, you know? Long as I have these, it's not likely to happen for this room.

I'm in Gurnee, IL. If you're serious, ping me privately.
If you want a pair of Bridgedale socks, I'll toss a brand new pair to your size in the mix. They're not cheap socks, either. :P
To the original poster, I realized tonight that I do in fact have a 5.1 setup that I would be happy to part with as I'm currently working on an upgrade project - the mains are NOT exactly sharp looking, if not downright ugly. Still would need pickup or something similar - trying to ship them would cost more than the speakers, if past experience shipping is any indication. They're definitely nothing special, but they're not bad at all for what they are.

actually, another speaker could fit there and you could squeeze through and stuff, but... yeah. Not really a smart move.

I can't imagine that speaker arrangement flying with my significant other. She claims that size doesn't matter, and she's perfectly OK with whatever speaker size I want... but they have to look "good" and they can't go just anywhere.
I just got my new surround enclosures (0.25 PE boxes), and I had to put them on the bar behind the couch. This would be a great position, since the couch is in the middle of the room, but the TV is in the corner...

Why don't you post where your location is and then see if there is someone nearby that is willing to help you build some speakers?- Bottom

Not really sure what you're looking for - last time you asked the attitude made it seem like you pretty much wanted a handout. The previous price-point might have covered shipping and a few bucks beyond...

Hey, how about the Dayton BR-1 kits (or any of the other Dayton kits)? They're relatively cheap. If you don't feel like you can solder together the crossover then you could ship them to me to assemble for you and I could assemble the crossover, the speaker, and then ship them back to you (for a nominal fee, of course). Otherwise find some buddy of yours that has any kind of mechanical/electrical aptitude to build them for you.
Two pairs of BR-1's and some sort of center might make a decent system.- Bottom

If I didn't know that it got even better for a similar price + effort - thats something that would probably sound darn good to me (having a pair of those somewhere in the garage). 3 Pairs, even better, 6.1 for $450 probably doesn't get much better with the super-cheap-and-easyness factored in. They're not the prettiest things in the world, but what can ya do =).- Bottom

Of course you could also go to Best Buy and pick up a pair of Insignias (now $80 I'm told) and install Dennis Murphy's crossover mods. I'm getting ready to do that for some friends that bought the Insignias for background music speakers while entertaining.
