    HELP Immediately. Please.......................

Hi guys. Sorry to come off as rude or demanding, I am just in a little pickle and need some help immediately.

Below you see the picture of the 3-way wfrom the original design.
As you may know I have flippped it upside down so the woofers are at the top. My dillema is the position of the mid's and tweeter.
Chris and I tweaked the design for me so I have a width of 14 3/4".

    Image not available

What are the new measurements because I have a wider baffle.
I am routing out the baffles now and have confused myself trying to figure out how much I should move the mtm portion over.

I am getting a new calculation of 7 7/8"(instead of 7 1/2") for the mids and 8 3/8"(instead of 8" for the tweeter).

    Is this correct??????????

    Thanks
    Mike

    Help please.

Upside down/right side up it doesn't matter for the spacing of the MTM drivers. But it's sure harder to read ....

So what did you guys do?. The original baffle is 14", so you changed it to 14.5"?

Yes. We changed the baffle width to 14 3/4.
Well I did, and Chris allowed me to. lol.

So as long as the tweeter is offset 1/2" from the mids it is alright.

I do not understand, for one.

What are you trying to do with the position of the RS180s and the tweeter?

Your diagram shows you need to center the RS180s and move the tweeter in by 1/2" from the centerline.

With those assumptions (correct, incorrect?), and a 14.75" baffle width, you would center the RS180s at 7.375" from each edge, and put the tweeter at 7.875" (7/8ths) from the outside edge and 6.875" from the inside edge.

I do not see how you could be having trouble figuring that out, so I must say I do not understand what you are actually trying to do.

            Hey jonathon.

The rs180's are not centered in the middle and neither is the tweeter. They are off set to one side.

              Okay not a big deal.

Did he redesign the crossover or just tell you to go with the stock one?

The mids are .5" off center and the tweeter is 1" off center in the original design. I'd assume that with the wider baffle you'd do the same. Based on that, it sounds like you have the right offsets. Midpoint of the baffle would be 7 3/8". Adding .5" gives you 7 7/8" and adding 1" gives you 8 3/8". So I'd say you're good to go.

My only big warning is to make sure you have the baffles as mirror images of each other. I always draw it out and mark the center points of the driver holes before doing any routing.

The crossover has not been re-designed but he mentioned that the tweeter most certainly will have to be padded with felt. I think Chris said I could really go up to an 1" wider without there being too harmful of an effect.

So as long as the relationship between the mid and tweeter stay the same I will be alright(1/2" off-set). Or am I missing something here.

                  Thanks for your patience.

I said from the beginning of this project there would be some stupid questions.

Seems to me you made the baffle .750" wider, in total, correct? If so, just add .375" on each side to keep everything centered. i.e. the 7.500" becomes 7.875" and the 8.000" becomes 8.375".
                      Does that make sense?
