Sub Driver Q Low or High?

Comparing Dayton RS HF 12” with a Qts of 0.44 and SoundSplinter RL-p12 with a Qts of 0.219 for the Dual 4, how does the driver’s Q play into the sound? As with a sealed sub, bigger boxes with a lower Q (<= 0.577) I hard are more musicale (tight and less boomy). Can the same thing be said of the driver’s Q (the lower the less boomy)?

Does a low Q also mean the driver suspension is looser?

Has anyone heard these two 12” drivers in a sealed box with a Q around 0.577? How do they compare (witch one sounds more tight/accurate)?

Would two Dayton RS12" HF be better then one Titanic 15" in a sealed box Q of .577 (witch one sounds more tight/accurate)?

The T/S parameters are to be looked at in total. Picking out a single parameter doesn't give the complete picture of how the driver will operate.

Does a low Q also mean the driver suspension is looser?
    No, Cms indicates the compliance.
Can the same thing be said of the driver’s Q (the lower the less boomy)?
The lower the Qtc the greater the damping. A Qtc of 0.50 is considered 'critically' damped

      Hi all,

My Mentor omnidirectional project is nearing completion, however, I pilfered the sub drivers for these from my NaO Mini's and will need to move them back eventually. I'm looking for a replacement sub driver for the Mentor's with these qualifications/constraints:

Help me choose a 15" driver for my 110 liter box!

      Hey guys,
I have a sealed 110 liter box (thanks again steve), and an Ep1500 (on the way) screaming for a 15" driver. Some of the popular choices come to mind...SS Rl-P 15", Titanic 15" etc. I've gotten used to the low inductance of the Rythmik driver and am affraid i'll have to...

Sealed box--can QTC be too low?
      by cobbpa
I'm changing over my Mach 5 Audio IXL-18 subwoofer from a large ported box, tuned very low, down to a sealed box. Should still be able to have about 4.5-6 cubic ft of internal volume. The 6 ft^3 gives an F3 of 40.55, Fb of 26.5, and Qtc of .551 (walls covered, no leaks). Will that still sound fine?...

What is the optimal QTC for a box?
      by krips
I've heard .707 and also .5, which is quite a wide range. Do you base your sealed enclosure volume on QTC and what is the best QTC to have? Is it important?

      Measuring Qtc/Fb of sealed sub
      by Greybeard191
Wanting to confirm... does this work the same as measuring/calculating Qts/Fs of a free-air driver, excepting the thing is in the box?
