    Confused by speaker wire choices

I was planning to run all of the speaker wire for my home theatre in the wall. I have completed lots of research and come to the conclusion that most everyone has some different advice to give. Here are a few of my questions:

    1) Should I run the wire for the mains and center in the wall as well? If I did, but used high quality wire would there be sound quality issues.
    2) Does anyone have any preferences on brand or vendor they have dealt with that has great prices/product?
    3) I would like to use 12 gauge, thoughts?

I have a rotel setup with the 1068 and 1095.

    Thanks for the help!

    1. I don't see how that would make any difference
    2. I haven't used any in-wall speaker wire, so I can't help you with that
    3. It depends on how long your runs are. 12 gauge is best up to 100 feet( I think), but longer runs will need 10 gauge. I really don't see anyone with that big of a room.

What speaker wire/cable do you use for your rear surround channels?

The room is 23' feet deep. The amp is at the front, and the speakers are on the back wall. The speaker wire goes down through the floor at the back of the rack. Actually... The rack is at the front left corner of the...

2 vs 4 wire speaker cable

I have decided I want to upgrade my current Audioquest speaker wire, I think it may be my speaker wire causing some harsh sound from my speakers. I listened to a pair of B&W 802d's today with Transparent speaker cable and was able to hear a difference. Of course there speaker wire was about 10 inches...

      Speaker wire length vs gauge?
      by gazix
I have an hk reciver (avr130) and it only puts out 50watts per channel. Because of my room, I need 25 feet for the fronts (floor to ceiling, across and down side wall...) And the fronts are routed through my polk psw202 sub then to my receiver (so the surrounds pick up as much bass as they can and the...

Bi-wiring 804s worth it on long cable runs?
      by shep
I'll try to keep this one within the bounds of the B&W page, but can already guess it might be best answered elsewhere. Need some advice. Leaving cable brands aside, lets say I have store-bought 12 gauge cable (CL rated for in-wall), running 50 feet from my stereo/HT setup in the family room (amplifier...

      Best Wire For Speaker Build
      by snmhanson
Now that I have the binding post versus terminal plate question answered, I have one more seemingly simple question to ask. I need to get some wire for the build. What wire works best? I am assuming that regular speaker wire is the way to go but what gauge and is there anything specific to look for?...
