In the beginning...

We are right in the middle of construction of our (Panasonic PT-AE900U projector) theater room in our basement.
Here is my wife Anne painting. You can see the outline of the future screen in the back. Still a good way to go....

I know you are excited, I wish I could have gotten my wife to help me paint . You're gonna love the Panny 900U it's certainly provides a beautiful picture.

What is your estimated time of completion?

Ahhh, you got it all wrong guys :P :P . Anne (my wife) does not HELP with the painting - she does all the painting . Since our many years of marriage she has always done the painting - on her insistence! It relaxes her and she truly likes it - I say: power to her! :T
We are progressing. It is our first dedicated HT. We did have a large screen TV and good 5.1 sound system with it in our TV room, but now we are taking the next step with this set up in our basement.
We are moving our existing sound system for now (JBL (large) front and (small) rear, Sound Design center and a Klipsch SW. Later this week I will be installing the (painted ) screen (Goo Systems).
We compromised a bit on color, because the room in question will have other social functions also - mostly our teenager son with his friends.
Not one of the kick-*** installations I have seen here, but it is a beginning.

I agree with your concerns. It is part of the compromise I mentioned in my above post. We had a few test screenings and it looks fine, although I am sure that a darker room would be better yet.
Part of things looking good surely is the Panny900, it rocks!

Frits, sometimes a theater has to be about compromise too. It's better to have a killer theater with a few pretty walls than none at all. :B If it becomes distracting, ask her if she thinks it is, and let her start thinking about it and make the decision. She might surprise you.

Either way, it's going great it seems, can't wait to see the finished product.
