    Economical sound isolation sheet/mat?

I've read about the Quiet rock thing from previous post(Couldn't stop laughing for 15minutes before posting this  ), yet it seems too pricy(like $100 for 32 sq. feet.... would cost me 500+ on those small area). Is there any better priced products would do similar job that could isolate the sound better? I just need to have one on door and one side of the room which are connected to the house. Thanks :B As they are sticking out on the wall(I can't break the wall and reconstruct now  ) I hope it doesn't look too ugly

There's green glue in conjunction with dual drywall as well.

True... none of what we're talking about, though, I'd call "economical."

I guess economical would be putting concrete walls in the middle of your stud walls... that would work pretty well... triple wall construction. Studs, concrete, studs. None of which would touch.

On the concrete wall topic .In my corner of Australia double brick construction(ie outer and internal walls are brick with internal plastered.) is the norm and so long as you have good doors sound isolation is not a huge issue although cabling in internal walls is a real pain if not done at construction.

You have to be careful with concrete though, it fairly reflective. Sand or insulation filled walls would likely be a better option. Staggered 4" studs on 6" bottom and top plates with insulation will help as well.

Concrete wall would be good if I have that much time to work on those...... I guess I will go with the mass loaded vinyl(they still cost a lot but much more affordable). Thanks guys :T
