Effective today the current PS2 price had dropped $20 to $179 (Microsoft & Nintendo have not fired back -yet).
Come June, Sony will replace the current PS2 formfactor with a newer and cheaper to produce model. The new model will have a couple additional features. It will include the broadband adaptor (currently a $35 option), a new fan design (the current model had some problems), progressive scan DVD playback, included DVD remote control (currently optional).
The PS2 hard drive will be released in early 2004 along with the next in the Final Fantasy series (the new FF game will require the HD).
