New Nvidia 23.11 Reference Drivers

Nvidia has the new Detonator 23.11 reference drivers out for Windows 95/98/ME/XP.

These include a host of features with a new version of the OpenGL ICD as well as full support for the nForce's integrated GPU.

Thanks for the heads up, Bing. Optimized for Xp? Does this mean I should yank that ATI Radeon out of the MB and slap my old Elsa Erazor back in and grease 'em with these drivers?

Sorry for the trash talk; spending too much time on the web for a guy my age.

Actually, nVidia does seem to be bringing out some new products soon with updated processing and features for DVD. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the near term. I went from being a 100% nVidia guy to "Radeon's 'R 'Us", because of DVD playback and 2D quality. Unfortunately, spiffy drivers won't fix the 2D quality issue, and even on my flat panel displays, Matrox and ATI still have a leg up on nVidia- even the ELSA cards, which are among the best nVidia based ones. But I'm hoping that changes, too.

Sorry Silli, yes Win2k is supported, I forgot to add it in.

I installed these drivers and it runs fine, even though I have read of some problems with VIA chip sets.

I haven't tested them myself Andrew, but this table shows that at my resolution, 1600x1200 the the improvments over time have been to my benefit. Maybe not so for the 1024x768 guys. This make sense for I'm sure at 1024x768 the Nvidia cards are going to be fast regardless, it's the higher resolution guys that need the tweeks in ddriver performance.

One problem I have seen brought up is users having issues with these drivers on boards with DVI. Apparently, it doesn't initialize correctly, and goes back into the anlaog mode, and attempts to get windows to recognize/initialize the DVI port after booting fail. Whereas returning to an older driver (I think it was Detonator 21.83) put everything back hunky dory.

Soooooo.... who knows? I don't have a DVI GeForce card, so I can't comment, but I did download these, to try with an Erazor that I have, and in case I do pop for a Geforce 3 for my gaming box.
