Motor Storm for PS3

Not really sure how these folks can say, well it's shallow, but go on to say it's the most engaging racing game you will find??? WTF???

They think they have to run everything down to show how smart they are.

I waited impatiently for this game for close to 3 months, it's the one I wanted out of all I've seen, and this is THE game to buy for PS3, IMO if you love racing anything on wheels. I find the trucks to be a blast.

Lex, I primarily bought my PS3 for the BD playability. Is this game good enough to be the first PS game ever to buy? Yes I like racing games, and flight/space Sims and RTS games too but I am not a fan of FPS. Did this one live up to your expectations?

I've played the intro, and about 5 levels of play, introducing new tracks, and vehicle types. I had so much fun with this mountainside track, I didn't even move forward last night. A total blast. I actually won a truck race last night on the prior track, smoked the field. This was racing BIG trucks, that come off the jumps, and hit like as hard as the 18 wheeler did in T2! :B

Is it a perfect game? Maybe not perfect, but it does a lot of things very very well. Details are incredible at times, in one truck race after I banged my truck up, the doors were both loose and flinging open and shut, what a hoot...

No 2 races have appeared the same. The field seems to do differing things in competition to you. You just never know who's gonna do what next, giving excellent competition to the computer.

I'm always hesitant to tell someone to spend 60 bucks on a game, but as far as racing games, this is in the top two across all platforms as far as I am concerned. The other is on 360 and is Project Gotham 3.

I'll probably pick this up when I get my PS3 soon. Only downer I've read about is that it is single player in offline mode. I need a game I can smash fenders with my kid in.

answer, 2 PS3s and 2 games, online play, lol. I know what you are saying, but I personally never liked split screen, and since there are multiple paths for vehicles to take, you cannot possibly keep all vehicles on screen at once, thus, no two player without split screen. But the kid in you will likely still love this game, and your kid. :-)

ROCK HOPPER!!!
Hands down the best next gen racing game the PS3 currently. At 106" I get vertigo sometimes. Yes, I bought the others as well, but this one trumps the rest.

Rock Hopper? I take it that's the name of a car in Motorstorm, and not a game itself?

I just keep going back to the PS3 demo that was in stores right as the PS3 was coming out, and Motorstorm and NBA 07 were the two games you could play. Thought Motorstorm was fun, but honestly nothing special. Is the final production version of the game a lot better than the demo was?

Well, maybe I'll take Doug's advice and rent it and try it out! I can't keep shelling out $60 for games, but if it's that good... maybe.

did you go watch that utube recording of rock hopper Chris? The graphics quality is nothing like true gameplace in 1080i or 720p, but I ran this course in 4 X 4 carts before, great course. I haven't made it to the 4 wheelers yet on it...

The video gives you a good indication of what game play is about. I'd like to see one of the mountain top track too, another favorite.

Anybody else get a kind of vertigo while playing this? I sit about 8ft from my 106" screen; in a blacked out room with speakers and subs blaring it feels rather intense. :driving: Ok, I'm hooked... :E Especially racing at dusk with the sun streaming through the clouds...nice rush.

So far, I've stuck to playing it on my 32" plasma in my bedroom. But I admit I been thinking about bringing it into my main theater for play. I been keeping Xbox 360 in here, PS3 in bedroom. I know it sure can give you wide eye syndrome, where you hardly blink, and eyes water, lol.

Walking through BB the other day, I took a look at this one. I was surprised to see that it's "only" 720p. For something as great as this, I would have assumed 1080p.

I don't think I've seen a 1080p game yet. I have R:FOM, MotorStorm, Elder Scrolls & NFS Carbon. I think they're all 720p titles.

+1 for MotorStorm - absolute must have first game on PS3. Although I wish my 4 year old son could get the idea that you don't have to crash every time you play!

FYI, Motorstorm 1.2 update is about to be released on the Playstation Store. Fixes and upgrades lots of little things.

Brandon, well, the bird dates back a ways, it can be used in a friendly toned message, joking, and that's the only way it would be tollerated.

Chris, 1080p is likely quite a challenge for high motion intense video games, I don't know. I'm not really loosing sleep over it being 720p. I don't even do 1080p anyway, so guess that's one reason I am not so particular. :-)
