    Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro

Does anyone out there have the X-fi sound card ? Other palces I've been
seem to get mixed feelings about this card...

I found this site when I was looking for hifi system...I never thought about this place with this forum (computers stuff)..anyway this whole thing started after I put together a new computer for myself..It was Dad's turn...but I wanted to be able to listen to some music whilst computing...after the computer was finished I went about searching for speakers....I wasn't overly impressed with what was available and by some quirk..I saw an add for some Creative surround speakers for sale at Audio FX...turns out it was a one time Christmas deal, they no longer had the speakers in the add..so while I was there I thought I'd test drive some B&W's, Marrantz and Rotel...Hmmm I could just plug my computer card into a Rotel RSX 1067...I went home with some 604s3's and the 1067 for my computer...didn't last long before I went back for CD player..but that's another story...

I do use the computer X-fi with some Sennheiser HD595 headphones when conditions are not right for the HiFi (other folks don't seem to appreciate the HiFi at times... so I go into silent mode listening)..the X-fi is still connected to the 1067..but I have only played with the headphones...I have fun with all the different setups...the crystalizer does seem to improve CD's that are not the greatest recordings..like Enya stuff...I like Enya just wish the CD recording quality was better...the X-fi seems to like electronic music too ..Kitaro and Cusco...

I guess that's enough for now but I'll be back with just some X-fi and headphone info and questions..if there seems to be some interest.

    Bye now

Creative sound cards in general are pretty good and usually fairly feature rich but there are better audiophile choices out there like M-audio, Lynx etc IMO. However what really matters is whether or not you're happy with it :T

Jason...I don't know any better right now...I'm blissfully ignorant...and so far this has been an ok learning tool...when I get some time I'm going to hook up my keyboards and play with that...when and if I get good...or a little better I'll look into a good digital recording studio..
