    Thomas W....Question re: SYSPREP/Resealing Process

Thomas, I came across THIS very informative posting of yours re: the use of the XP SYSPREP tool to "reseal" a drive, and am very interested in using the method for a motherboard swap I'm about to do, changing from an Athlon XP/nForce2 combo to an Athlon 64/nForce3. I've made similar changes to my XP Pro installation once before, but did a "repair" install of the OS to force the re-enumeration of the hardware. But this sounds easier and I'd like to give it a try.

My one major concern regards the fact that my OS runs on two HDD's in a RAID 0 configuration via a Highpoint PCI RAID controller card. Do you (or any other reader of this post) know if that poses a problem or necessitates the use of special methods to run the reseal process successfully? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can lend....

Sorry for the late reply. And no I do not think that resealing will work with a striped array.

Yeah, I suspected as much. Decided to stick with the XP repair install. The main reason I had wanted to avoid that was that I have an original XP Pro disk, with none of the service packs. But I used the Elder Geek's method of slipstreaming SP2 & making a new bootable XP Pro CD with that, and it worked like a charm. :T

Thanks for taking the time to respond....
