    New FT setup

I've been reading Club Rotel for the last year or so and this forum for a couple months. The posts on this forum have convinced me to go the FT route. I posted a link to my HT system which consists of a Rotel AV receiver and DVD player, Linn Tukan speakers for main, Paradigm CC-370 for center and Paradigm Atoms for the surrounds mounted to the joists just back and to the left and right of the projector . The AV and speaker stands are Sound Organisation. The projector is a Infocus X1 and the screen is a Carada 4:3 76 diagonal screen. The main seating area is 11 feet from the screen and provides a 26 degree viewing angle.

I've had the projector hooked up since Dec 22 and already have over 65 hours on the bulb. This setup really makes me realise this is the viewing angle most DVD's were intended for.

John, really glad we were able to have what I see as a positive effect on your theater experience! You've got a great looking place there. Looks very comfortable and inviting.

I'm also glad to see you ventured out of Club Rotel to see what the rest of HTG is about. Kudos.

Nice theater, John. Welcome to the front projection club. It is a growing thing at The Guide. Now, why not stop in at DVD Director and let us know what kind of dvds you're watching these days and then join in the discussions.

Thanks everyone for your kind remarks. I will try to become a more active participant in the forum, if I have something useful to add.

Currently watching the newer Lara Croft DVD. She looks real nice on the big screen.

            Best Wishes,
            John

Yes John, your theater looks quite nice indeed. 8)
And going with a front projector has no doubt save valuable floor space that would have otherwise been taken up by a rear projection unit.
And this screen is even flatter thatn a plasma display and 4 times+ as big. 8O
                Thanks for the pictures.

I updated the link to the pictures of my home theatre to show a simple and cheap improvement I have made to the room that greatly enhances the picture quality. I'm sure most of you are aware of this but I thought it was such a fundamental improvement that it is still worth mentioning. Cost me $20.

                  Regards,
                  John
