Merry Christmas to me! Again!! (ISF'd the set)

When I picked up a Mits 57831 on a great employee accomodation, I told myself that was my early Christmas present.....well....today I got another one....and its also a TV! I picked up a Loewe Aconda 9383 in Piano Black......I wont say how much I paid for it, but a hint would be around 10-15% of what it would have cost brand new. I am stoked to bring it home and replace my bedroom Sony 27" XBR.....should be great for Xbox360 enjoyment. If you arent familiar with the Loewe brand, they are from Germany. And they make/made THEE best CRT direct view sets period.....still one of the standards of reference for me since I delivered and set up and calibrated many when they were distributed in the US (they pulled US dist. a couple years ago).

    YAY for me! :T

    UPDATE:

I brought home the Sencore gear tonight and spent a couple hours tweaking the set for SD satellite and Xbox360. Now I remember why I love these sets sooooo much. The thing just looks so bloody good! Especially with DVD. Even satellite is as nice as you can expect from SD. And super easy to calibrate as well! Gonna have to break it in with season one of The Unit. Ill grab some pics and post them up tonight.

My parents have a Loewe, I believe also the Aconda, it's 40" IIRC. Very nice TV for sure! Weighs a TON...

hmm, I remember Loewe made an appearance in TVs, I was not aware they'd pulled out. Sweet deal I think at 10-15%! So what is a 9383, not that it matters much since we can't buy one, but size? LCD or tube?

Hm, these are rather handsome TVs in my opinion. I'm still not quite sold on the flat panel technologies yet, so I'll be sure to keep these in mind if my Sony CRT bites the dust.

How does PQ compare to the Sony KD-34XBR960?

Blows away any tube TV ever made IMHO. We used to sell this TV side by side with the Sony XBRs and we sold the daylights out of the Loewe and ended up dropping the Sony line altogether.

Too bad they are not distributed in the US any longer. They said they would return someday, but I wouldnt hold my breath. I am sure there are several dealers with some old stock leftover....

I remember seeing the Loewe TVs a few years back. Both the case design and picture quality always looked good, but they were pretty pricey. 8)

Enjoy your new set! It sounds like a great bargain. :T

I remember them well and still think my Sony 32xbr-100 (XBR squared) is the finest consumer CRT ever made
