Issues with running plasma power cable in through the wall

A friend of mine recently purchased a Panasonic plasma and next week he will be mounting it on the wall. He will be running all the cables including the power through inside the wall for a cleaner look. I know a/v signal cables is not a problem but was not sure about the power cable. Is it OK to run it or should he be using a different one (higher guage, triple shielded, fire retardant etc). I told him to check with a licensed electrician as well. Any advice will be helpful.
    Thanks.

Nasser, that was exactly the right response. He should contact an electrician to find out what is and isn't up to local code. He may find that he can run it in-wall if he encloses the power cable in conduit (or some other step), or not. Then he can make a safe decision based on the available options. Good call. :T

Yes, it's true that AC power cords SHOULD not be run in the wall, for any electrical product.

That's all I'm going to say about that.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Have the electrician install an outlet behind the plasma. This way it complies with code, and keeps the cord out of sight.

              Kevin,

I thought about that...installing another electrical outlet behind the plasma. But he also have a main PowerCenter which he wants to use for whatever protection it may provide. In the case of installing another elctrical outlet behind the plasma he will have to get another surge protector simply for the video display and have that wall mounted as well The other thing he can do is to get an a/v stand high enough so it almost reaches close to the base of the plasma display on the wall to hide the little bit of power cable being seen or he can get some decorative item which flows with the room decor to cover up the cable. It sometimes help to think out loud and this forum has been very helpful to jog them dormant brain cells As always I appreciate the advice/suggestions of the forum members.
              Thanks.

You can get single-outlet or outlet-mount surge protectors, if you want to surge protect your plasma. RadioShack has them. I use one for my projector.

I'm having a video problem with the RSP1098. I'm trying to figure out whether there is something wrong with the 1098, some incompatibility with my plasma monitor, or some bad mojo in my house. All ideas or experience with similar set-ups would be greatly appreciated.
