    plv-z2 noise problem

I am having problems with my Sanyo plv-z2.
I normally run the project on low speed/quite mode.
The fan automatically increases speed after about 1 hour of usage. I stays on high speed until i adjust in back to low speed. After about 20 minutes it will go back to high speed again. This is very irritatingnad I didnt have this problem the first few months.
I have tried to change filter but it only helps to problem for a few hours. Also cleaning helps a bit.

The projector is mounted in a shelf on the wall and no box around it so it should have sufficient ventilation.

Has any one else had this problem? Any advice would be very useful.

    Best Regards

    Bo

The fan is temperature controlled- if changing the filter or cleaning it helps for a while, that's a clue that there's a possible problem. If it's mounted on a shelf on a wall (not a conventional mount), is there any blocage or obtruction to the air flow, either at the intake side or the exhaust side? When mounted on a ceiling or table, airflow to all sides is unimpeded, and it's completely open above what is the top of the projector. Putting it in a shelf is a different situation, perhaps not planned for by the projector's designers.

You might get a small digital thermometer and put in on the shelf next to the projector and see how the local temperatures behave while you're watching for a couple of hours.

      simple solution...

This is almost embarrassing. I followed the advice from JonMarsh and checked the space around the project on the shelf and moved about 2 cm further from the wall. Now the space between the back wall and the air intake on the shelf is about 25cm. Before it was 23 cm.
Ever since that move the projector has worked perfect! It keeps its very comfortable low fan noise which for me is almost undetectable. For now, it looks like the problem is solved.
Its kind of embarrassing that the solution was so simple.. ..
I also spoke to Sanyo support twice about this problem before I posted it on this forum and they didn’t know the cause of it. They suggested I send it for repair…..

So thanks JonMarsh for your advice. You have spared me a lot of head aches.

      Best Regards

          the noise/fan problem has returned..

After having followed the advice from JonMarsh and I solved the problem with the fan suddenly running in some kind of "over drive " mode.

How ever, after about 2 months, the problem has returned again. I have checked for possible blockage of the air wants on the side or in the back but there is nothing in its way. The shelf, on which the project is placed on, is a simple small shelf dediced only for the projector. There is free room on both sides of the projector.

This problem first occured only after about 3 months of usage. And now return 2 months after I moved away a bit further from the back wall.
Further: The yellow lamp change indicator is not lit. Niether is the red warning lamp that should warn something if temperature is too high.

Can this has anything to do with the the actual lamp?

          Any advice?

          Best Regards,

          Bo

My first Blu-Ray of the movie Speed with Sandra Bulluck, and Keanu Reeves went bad just sitting on the shelf, I tested every blu-Ray player I had, and could not find one that would play it. I enjoyed the movie, so I replaced it. I queued it up on my 4K projector last night, it's never looked...

            by AndrewM
Well after about 3 years I've finally upgraded the ol' rig to something a little more fitting for todays needs. I wasn't really feeling the need quite as bad as in years past, but the bug bit me and it was time. So I'm not the proud owner of a new AMD 64-3200 system which has replaced the ol' trusty...

You all may remember how my HT room has a register but not a fresh air intake...and how I discussed how to keep the room at a decent temperature especially given the extra heat our new projector throws off. Well, I could just crack the door, the window, etc...but I still wanted to do something...so...
