Green circle at the top of the screen

    Hey,

Just about 3 days ago I noticed a green circle at the top of my screen closer to the right hand side. The projector is a PT-AE500. Has anyone ever experienced this? Is this a dust blob?

    Thanks for the info.

Matt, if you can sharpen the circle with the focus ring, then it is a dust blob. If not, then it could be a polariser plate burn. I have a feeling it is a dust blob, though, as this little problem is not all that unusual with projectors.

Green = dust blob. Haven't heard of a burnt polarizer resulting in green.

Agreed... a burnt polarizer would result in a loss of a primary color, not a gain of one.

Burnt polarizer = yellow, cyan, or magenta blob (on a light background)
Dust = red, green, or blue blob (on a dark background)

Perhaps not. It was just a guess based on experienced I had with a burned polariser ( blue) plate. The burn had a greenish/yellowish look.
