    HTGuide will finally move to new location

    Our current server will be shut down on saturday which forces us to quickly make our move to the new server. This means that I will close the forum on Friday morning (European Central Time) just to be able to synchronize the database servers. This task needs to be done by midnight Friday since I'm uncertain when they will pull the plug on Saturday... which means no more entries can be allowed on the old database server.
    Hopefully the DNS Servers will be initiated on friday and if everything works htguide.com will start to show up around the world again during Saturday and Sunday.

      Also, I would like to say we are sorry for having to take the guide down like this anytime. It just cannot be helped. So, your patience with us during this time period is appreciated. Traditionally, the weekend is our slowest time, so hopefully the impact will not be as bad as during the week...

                                  gracefull shutdown -several servers 1 ups

                                  So I came up with this the other day as an inexpensive way of gracefully shutting down 3 servers plugged into our 1 ups. Thought I'd share.

                                  The ups is an APC smartups1000. The com cable is plugged into only 1 server, naturally, only that server knows anything about what's going on power-wise....
