THE GIRL NEXT DOOR is a...

... pornstar. This is a cute little flick about a young man with a promising future who becomes involved with the girl next door who is... well you already know that. Anyway, if you liked RISKY BUSINESS, the storyline of GIRL NEXT DOOR is similar. This was supposed to be the unrated version that I rented but other than a mild scene of a simulated sex act, the movie was really not all that raunchy. Or maybe I'm just old and jaded : . All in all, this was an okay 100 minutes or so, worth :25:

I haven't seen this movie, but I am intriqued.

The blonde also plays Keifer Sutherland's daughter on the TV show "24".

        ...and I love "24" !

I was wondering when she would pop up in one of these type of movies. Figured it wouldn't be long, considering thge success of "24".

          Typical 'American' Movie....hmmmm

          Bam....

.........'American' movie?? I am an American (U.S. resident actually)....perhaps you could clarify to me what you are implying? Some of the greatest movies ever made were made in America; also, some of the worst were made in America. I surmise that you reserve the term "American" (when describing a film) for the 'lousy' or 'wretched' or even 'average' films that come out of Hollywood.

I am sure that if the film you saw was a classic......you would NOT have called it an 'American' film, eh?! And I think that stinks.

If you want to generalize the 'typical' Hollywood film as crap....that is perfectly fine with me, for I don't associate 'American' with 'Hollywood'. But, if you choose to define all films of questionable value that are made in Hollywood with the word 'American'....then I have a problem with it.

I am sure your sarcasm was off-the-cuff with no attempt to insult any Americans on this forum....but, that is not an excuse and I am not amused.

          Regards,
          Steve

Steve, let's just try to simmer down a bit ok? This is a friendly forum and I intend to keep it that way. You, I and everyone else know that Bam was not making any anti-american statements. He's not part of some terrorist organization bent on crippling the US through completely innocent, humour based remarks made on an HT interent forum. OK? Let's try to be a little more reasonable

Bam, maybe next time you could specify that you meant more typical hollywood "material"

Steve, I read Bam's post as a compliment to American Moviemaking rather than an insult. Take it cool, life is short. 8)

I thought it was entertaining. 3 to 3.5 out of 5 stars. Good soundtrack, good PQ, hotties didnt hurt, and some humor here and there. Then again, Ill watch just about anything in the new theatre and be able to enjoy it :P

I liked it, I think VIVID was pretty much involved in making this film. I'm pretty sure alot of kids in their teens around the world would be talking about it from time to time. It's not stereotyping Americans, Heck! If I grew up in Iraq as an Iraqi teen, then of course I would try to nail me a pornstar if I had the chance. That's just about every teenage kids fantasy, correct me if I'm wrong on this. :W :W :W :W

I Finally got around to seeing this. I found it an updated Risky Business as George commented (right down to some very similar music in parts), way smarter than your average teen movie of late. This story was well crafted and really plays with the "things are not as they seem" theme well. It does get lost a little lost along the way (towards the end) but regains focus at the end with a strong finish.

This touches on genuinely funny to "almost" dark comedy moments. The mis-direction is overused just a little, but it's forgiveable.

All in all an enjoyable: 3.5/ 5

replay: maybe a 3/5, I'll probably give it another watch down the road.

Watched with my wife and she enjoyed it as much as me (possibly more). There is nudity and foul language for those who are eaily offended but it's all minor stuff and works with the context of the story.

                          :T good stuff, nice surprise.

p.s. the soundtrack is a solid 5/5 (nice choices)
Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

Stars Ben Chaplin as John, Nicole Kidman as Nadia, and is directed by Jez Butterworth.

Rated: R for sexuality and language. There's some minor violence, too.

                            Hello,
I have learnt a lot the last few days reading the posts on this forum, thanks to all who participate. I'm getting my basement finished and to my surprise, my wife really wants to get a HT (projector/screen etc). Of course, the regular constraints: speakers have to be small, on the wall,...
