    Give me your ten best

What is this year's ten best? Think hard and nominate anything. Cast Away and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon seem to have spots on this list reserved for them; but we'll have to wait and see. So what's on your list? Mine will follow as soon as I've had some time to think about it.

It's been a weak year for "Best" films.

Off the top of my head (of films I've seen):

    Requiem For A Dream
    Unbreakable
    Billy Elliott
    Almost Famous
    Men Of Honor
    Pay It Forward
    Erin Brockovich
    Remember The Titans
    Gladiator

I will pencil in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", and maybe "Traffic" until further notice after I see it for myself. I don't hold as much hope for "Castaway", or "The Gift".

I just can't come up with 10...or even 7, as Patrick said, it has been a weak year.

      Chicken Run
      Gladiator
      the Patriot
      Erin Brockovich
      Almost Famous
...was "the End of the Affair" this year?

I hold hope for Castaway, Traffic and Proof of Life.

I liked The Patriot and Gladiator
some I didnt hate were Mission to Mars and U571
otherwise It was a year full-o-crud for me

With a home theater I find going to movies is becoming a thing of the past especailly with crummy choices getting worse by the year

Forgot "the Cell", I completely enjoyed that one.
Can also add "Proof of Life", great adult adventure movie.
So that's 8 for me...Gotta see Castaway, Traffic, and Shadow of the Vampire, which isn't playing here yet.

This has been a very weak year for film, then suddenly this weekend there has been an explosion of great films. My favorites so far, with any of the first three worth seeing twice:
            Traffic
            Eirin Brokovich
            O Brother, Where Art Thou
            Before Night Falls
            Nowhere To Hide
            Gladiator
            Wonder Boys
            Chocolate
            Chicken Run
            Quills

I wanted to see "Quills" very bad, but for some reason it has never shown here...just how good was this movie? Being as it was about the Marquis de Sade, it should have been twisted.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Cast Away have moved to the front of my list.

With the ASC awards and the Acadamy Awards coming up soon, I have been trying to work my way through all my DVDs of the potential nominees. I know that comedies don't usually fare well when it comes to award night but, I found my self replaying scenes from Oh Brother Where Art Thou and laughing out...

I saw Star Wars Episode Two: Attack of the Clones hours ago. The ‘how’ of that will be a thing of mystery buried in a passed piece of paper from my book signing with a hotel, a room number...
