This is a beautifully done film with some excellent acting from Julianne Moore ( she won Oscar for this) and Dennis Quaid, who was sorely overlooked. It has both the look and the feel of my generation ( the fifties). The story deals with the problems of homosexuality, racism and how the gossipy opinions of others can cause a lot of misery. It's one of those films that leaves you thinking long after the credits have faded.
This is film-making at its best.
