Just one huh? Okay. Super Speedway. Two scenes in particular:

    1) Testing the Cosworth engine at the factory. When that thing is at max revs and the exhaust header is glowing red, the shriek makes my arm hairs stand straight up.

    2) The road course scene with Dire Straits playing in the background. The impact as Michael Andretti blows under the overpasses are still some of the best "chest thumping" moments I've seen, and never fail to get a "Whoa" from the audience.

One? Okay. Without question, it's the launch scene of Apollo 13 DTS. It's got it all--extremely loud, thumping bass, dynamic visuals, detailed surround sound of bits of the launch tower moving and breaking around you, an emotional plot of the families reacting to the launch, and a soaring musical track. One I get my tactile transducers, this will be even better.

Although I love my other demo materials, this is by far the one I use for a demo the most.

Oh yeah, and yes I do plan on buying a personalized DVD into. Haven't done it yet, but that will likely be my final cap on the theater project.

Chris, it'd be cool if you could use the Apollo 13 launch scene as part of your intro-DVD, with something about the "Into The Wild Blue Theater" or some such.

The ONE I like to demo is Blade II. The scene where Blade catches the fat vampire and also where he uses him to enter the room with other vampires and he takes them all down including the 2 on the motorcycle. I'm surprised though that no-one mentioned The Fast and The Furious and Gone in 60 Seconds (Eleanor chase seen).

                    Hey Guys...

Just watched a rental last night called Atanarjuat the Fast Runner. An interesting movie I found hard to follow initially. Entirely in Inuktitut w/subtitles. Now the reason I bring this up here in this forum is the video transfer was absolutely stunning. I've never seen a DVD with video as crisp and lifelike. It was like watching HDTV. Early in the movie one of the eskimos was preparing his sled by icing down the runner. I could have reached out and touched it. If it looked this good on my system I'd almost hate to see it on a properly calibrated TV.

                    a couple of things...

                    You better like white.
It's a pretty dark movie and not for kids.
Almost reminded me of a documentary at times. I firmly believe eskimos all die at 40 of colon cancer. I didn't see anyone eat anything but walrus. seals, whale and I mean nothing. Of course there was nothing organic growing anywhere.

There's not much iin the way of special effects, audio and such, just one of the best pictures I've ever seen on a DVD.

All movies should be made this way.

                    My .02

Seems like most of my favourites were covered already but I do like to pop in Master and Commander to pop a few people off the couch...

Specifically, the first battle scene in Master and Commander (I think Chapter 4). It starts with distant foreground cannon blasts and ends in the rears with splintering wooden masts.

(The rest of the movie is almost watchable...)

It is only two channel here but the very beginning of the cartoon "Ice Age" is preetty good. When the (Scrat) the squirrel stomps an acorn in the ice and glaciers start to move.

It is not very long but make sure to turn it up loud!

                            Finding Nemo.

Crystal clear studio recorded voices, excellent surround use and panning effects, huge bass scenes, and razor-sharp image with everything from murky depths to brilliant sunshine reflecting off/through water. Every color of the rainbow on the coral reefs. Lots of different sounds too, from whale songs to dental tools.

It's also an enjoyable film for all ages.

DTS has a few if you can find any. You can make some(illegally) if you want but if you sell them then be on the lookout for folks to shut you down for copyright violations.
