Yeah, I thought that was the point of BR/HD? Bigger capacity, better quality.

It's possible that these won't be 2 disc SE's on HD while regular dvd gets the 2 disc sets.

            Yowzah! :dancenana:

Now THAT'S more like it. I was really underwhelmed by the initial list of Blu-Ray titles to be released, but this one restores a good chunk of my enthusiasm. In fact, there are only 2 titles that I really wouldn't want in my collection:

            Eyes Wide Shut
            Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?

            The must-haves for me are:

            2001
            Batman Begins
            Forbidden Planet
            Grand Prix
Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire
            The Maltese Falcon
            The Searchers

Darn. I'd decided to sit this format war out, but now I may have to hop on in. Where's that player release info? :

            Good catch Shane.

Oh, yes, the evil gods of dvd are trying to tempt me, but I must remain strong and resist.

Oh, yes, there was a time when I'd jump in eyes closed, but I am not in that kind of financial position anymore. Like it or not, I have to wait this one out.

Yes, yes, let's all be realistic and admit this is a definite possibility. I'm going to TRY, at least, to do this one smartly instead of just jumping in like Joe public.

Let's face it. Joe will jump in after we do. They already freak about spending $200 on a dvd player let alone $1,000.

I truly wonder if the PS3 is going to be the impetus to get the new HD wave going. Heck, it might even be that way for me. I resisted buying the X360, partially because the PS3 looks so good. If I buy one, that may open the floodgates for me into Blu-Ray.

Hey, get the name right- it's Jon Public!

And if I remember correctly, back in 1997, Joe Public and J6P didn't go anywhere near DVD- mostly it was just the looneys like me that already had 100+ Laser Disks and were drooling over the prospect of having widescreen on their CRT projector...

I've still got those LD, and a player for them, too!

It was LD that got me into front projection, and like Jon I still have many LDs and a player. But I am pretty happy with what I see from my PJs with standard dvds and, probably more out of necessity, I don't intend to jump until I see who comes out on top of this stupid format war. :x

1080P is what they say. The player will downconvert to whatever resolution your set is.
