    Assault On Precinct 13

This remake of the earlier John Carpenter classic has a similar story line ( the police station is beseiged like the Alamo) but that's where it all ends. Instead of a Street Gang in the original, the beseigers this time are a bunch of bad cops and credibility is stretched so badly I just couldn't take the story seriously. So I sat back and watched and listened to all the great action.

Basic premise: A precinct sargeant, and a skeleton staff ( it's New Year's eve) have to join forces with the prisoners to stop a group of bad cops who not only want to silence one of the prisoners, but leave no witnesses as well. The rest if bang bang, boom boom, and a surprising ending that really isn't a surprise. Oh, well. It was just a rental.

That was kinda my assumption from the previews.

I think I will avoid even renting this one.
    Thanks George.

While the action was satisfying, the humor was there too. Too bad the story was reaching (quite a bit)!

John, that summarizes it very well :agree: . I'm certainly glad it was a rental.

hey saw that this weekend. Not bad flick. Hated the ending. And ...."reaching".....I guess that would be an UNDERSTATMENT. I thought that it was reaching a TON! Good rental though.

Watched this last night. It was a total "As if... " movie. Far reaching sums it up

I watched most of this last night. While it had gotten stellar sound reviews, I found it to be too overbearing, too loud at times at my normal listening level. For instance, I needed to turn down the sub channel a lot, and then my surrounds as well. Anyone else feel similarly?

Nope. The system I heard it on didn't flinch with the subbass in the movie. It's very possible that your subbass system isn't capable of playing it back at the levels you desire.

Nope, not what I meant. The bass didn't flinch. Hardly, as I'm not sure mine can. It was just way too loud compared to my other channels and shook my kids out of bed two floors up. So, it seemed out of synch with the other channels and was wondering if anyone else felt that? In fact the sonics just didn't impress me as I thought they would based on a review I read.

Do you mean overbloated like Underworld?

Maybe, I only watched parts of Underworld. It kinda gave me a headache unlike other reference DVDs like LOTRs or Master& Commander played at near reference levels.
