    AV32R-EX Digital Input?

    Buzz,
I have added a Panasonic DVD-RP91K to my HT and was wondering if the Tag will accept 96kHz/24-bit info from my player through the coaxial digital input? So, far all I can get the Tag to show is 48kHz on the display. I set the DVD player to the optional 2ch hi res 96/24 on the menu of the software. TIA

It does accept 96k coming in. It may be that your player will only deal with 96k on analog outputs and it downconverts to 48k on the digital out.

      Buzz,

Thanks for the reply! You are right.....it is being downconverted!!

I'm looking forward to the AV192R upgrade to use the full features and pass through for DVD-A!

Bummer. Well, most machines do downconvert so you're not alone.
I too lok forward to the 192 but I am uninterested in analog pass through as all the DVD-A machines I ahve seen are junk; the kinds of things that would not have made Stereophile class C as CD players. Now we have this incredible new format and we can't yet hear what it is capable of.
It is the DVD-A digital interface that gets my juices flowing...

          Buzz,

With the new 24/192 DACS the AV192 should sound amazing. I may have to upgrade to the new Tag 192 DVD player to get the full potential of DVD-A passed to the digital input on the AV192R!!!

Conversation with Todd Sutherland of Madrigal
            by greynolds
I had a brief exchange of emails with Todd Sutherland of Madrigal today about the future of the AVP. I asked Todd if it would be OK to copy our conversation to this group - he said sure. Note that he was still at work at nearly 8PM tonight (when I received his last response), so he's certainly a dedicated...
