Rt-1084?

Hello All,

Any word on the release date & cost for this new tuner. Home Theather mag had a statement about this tuner. It's suppose to recieve the HD radio signal.

I have already told my daughter, If I ever find her B Spears CD’s in my system, she’ll be living the garage! (it's a joke I have with her, at least as far as she can tell) I do listen to her Rap with her on occasion though.

I've seen the RT-1084 reportedly listing at $800, if it ever comes out. Supposedly coming out this spring/summer.

Not so sure HD radio is going to take off, and am leaning toward the more affordable (and available) RT-1080 - if only they'd offer more of a discount...

I think the new Marantz ST-7001 AM/FM/XM unit is nice. I dont listen to any radio so I dont have a need for any kind of tuner, but the Marantz is a nice one.

I got an email back from Amy at Rotel - this is due for release next month (November); MSRP $899.


I wonder if any dealer will discount a pre-order since they would not have any associated carrying cost.

In truth, I think I would like to have an HD receiver. I listen to the radio at least 1 to 2 hours per day, and the station now broadcasts in HD.

I did get a Magnum Dynalab used via Audiogon a while back, and have no regrets ( I'm old school and love analog, especially the meters) and it sounds very close to CD SQ.

Still, I would be very interested to compare the difference between it and HD

Has anyone seen or heard an RT-1084 yet?

Do you think this will be merely an RT-1080 with HD & Sirius capability added, or will Rotel made design changes to the existing analog portion also? Do you think $899 will be a good value?

Is the existing RT-1080 considered a pretty decent tuner, everything else being equal? Bang for the buck?

For those who own one (RT-1080 that is), would you buy it again or get some other one instead?

I listen to a lot of FM using my ancient NAD 4220 tuner, but it only has 5 presets, and has no trigger or remote capability. It gets the job done, but that's about it. I'd sure like to replace it with a better unit at the end of the year.
