    Halo C2 voltage requirements

    Hi there!

I may end up buying an used C2 from the US as none seem to be for sale here in germany. The downloadable user manual from parasound mentions voltage requirements from 90 to 260V.

Does that mean a C2 from the US can be used in any environment that provides a voltage between 90 and 260 V without any modification except for the fitting power cord?

I hope someone could verify/deny this.

    Thank you
    Eric

Reading the manual it seems like it would take the higher voltage and it automatically switches.... I asked one of my buddies who is into Parasound gear and he's looking it up for sure....

All you have to do is change the powercord.
That is what I did and it worked perfect.

I do remember reading a review of the C2 and the author spoke about the power supply being very Euro friendly or easy to convert to your power needs. Email Parasound tech services to confirm.

Yes, the C2 has a switching power supply. It works worldwide without the need for changing settings. Plug 'n play!

One thing worth noting, if you buy a US model, is that the default video format is set to NTSC instead of PAL. I don't remember if it is possible to change this setting through the front panel. However, if you have a TV/projector capable of NTSC it is no problem, of course. (The setting can definitely be changed through the on-screen menu).

Yes but if your monitor only shows PAL, you will have to change the OSD setting in blind, which is probably not an easy task. (It's probably easier to borrow an NTSC compatible monitor from someone for doing the task).

Now, like I said, it might be possible to do the change through the tiny C2 display interface. I don't remember if this setting was available there or not. OR, it might be possible to change the setting through the RS232 computer interface too...

My TV supports PAL & NTSC. That would be not a problem, at least for me.

That's one beauty of HDTV - NTSC and PAL no longer matter!
