    Halo C1 question

    I'm wondering how the C1 handles a analog rt/lt signal from a
CDplayer, does the C1 give you the option of going thru their D/A converter.
What I/m getting at is some Processors now have high quality convertors so
you get use you dvd/cd player more as a transport.

Yes, you can use the C1/C2/7100 for their decoding capability, which they do very, very well, by sending a digital signal from the player to the processor. The DAC's aren't the very best and latest out there in the market, (we're hoping we get an upgrade in the near future!) but you'll get quite a great sound.

That's what I do for critical listening with my C1.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Yes, it will work great for regular CDs and DVDs. However, if you're going to use SACD or DVDA you'll need to use the DACs in the player/transport.

What's the deal with CD player's used as transports?
        by nicholtl
From my understanding, CD players/multichangers can be used 1 of 2 ways.

        1) As a transport.

        2) As a player utilizing it's own internal DAC's.

As such, this basically means that by using digital interconnects (optical or coaxial) between the CD player...

Is such a thing in the works? Does anyone have any information on capabilities and interfaces (DVD-A, SACD, DACs, HDMI, XLR, etc)? I read somewhere that they had a new DVD player ready to roll but held it up because they wanted to improve it.

        I'm building a whole new audio/video system...

        New Halo CD Player?
        by Vince Helm
Now that the Parasound Halo has two hi-end audio products in the line, JC1 and JC2. As both are geared more toward the upper hi-end 2 channel approach to audio, should they bring to market a hi-end 2 channel cd player or transport / DAC combo to match the JC1 and JC2?

My sig has my current equipments. Recently my friend brought his Linn Genki cd player over, and I was amazed with the sound quality. My denon produces 80% of that sound when playing SACDs and 60% of that sound (imho ofcourse) when playing cds. Living in a small nyc apt, I really don't want a dedicated...
