I was enjoying my setup today listening to various works in both 2.0 stereo and 5.0 surround. Yup, I'm still missing a sub after all these years. But I have to say, that for music I'm really not missing it. Most of the time that is.
But I do know that eventually I'll add in that missing piece to my setup (N802, N HTM2, N805). I figure I'll get an 800 series ASW to complete things.
So I decided to check the online ads and also do a bit of research to see what's coming down the pipeline. On the video side it seems that Super Hi Vision (aka Ultra Hi Def) may be coming as soon as 2015. The audio portion of the new format is defined as 22.2. That's right - 22 speakers + 2 subs.
Can you imagine the room size you'd need to justify a setup like that? Not to mention the mountain of cash you'd need to spend on speakers, amps, cables etc? And then the size of your monthly electricity bill?!
