    Please advise

I've got the B&W 684 Theater set of speakers. I have my amplifier that if I use it on BTL mode will provide 200watts per channel. The power rated on the 2 B&W front towers is 150watts. Will they get damaged if use this setting for stereo music?
    Thank you.

No, you won't damage your speakers. In fact, you are far more likely to damage speakers with underpowered amps (if you drive them into distortion).

It is possible to overdrive speakers, but you'd be playing them at *extremely* loud levels before that happens.

      THX2468,

I totally agree with this. Too much good power for almost all listening is not going to be a problem.

      Enjoy the 684's

Thank You! Now, using the Sony STR-DG1000 (120watts) connected to the TA-N9000ES amplifier (115watts) at 5-channel. What the N9000ES does when I turn it on? Shall I leave it with this set up (5-channel) or I move to BTL mode at 200watts for front stereo only? I know that could be depending on what we like individually but it's always good to hear other opinions.
        Thank you!

          THX2468,

I like the idea of a dedicated amp for your speakers. I'm not sure what you are asking here. I'm not familiar with the term BTL. Is that some kind of bridging option? In general, bridging often will increase distortion. So I often recommend that someone sticks with the normal performance of an amp. If that amp is not enough, then the path is to consider a replacement. I think 115 watts of a dedicated amp is fairly nice for the 684's. But it may need a bit more power, especially for the bass region.

If you are looking for more power, but want to not spend much, look for a used rotel RM-1070. I believe it's 130 watt of stereo power. Rotel is typically conservative with their rating, so I would expect actual performance to be better. The Rotel amps sound very good with B&W.

          Hope this helps.

Hi all, first time post to this forum although I've been reading various threads for the past year or so.

I would appreciate some advise and guidance on matching an amp with a pair of Sig-8NT in-walls. These speakers are rated at 200W and I know a good choice would be a Rotel RB-1080...

This all started with my 'Convergence' project on a quest for a great bandpass design using a PR as the exit. Initially it was a TB W8-1445A (one-off production sample from the Tent Sale, and also this next item too) and an Eminence 12" PR. I wrote up the project here:
