If someone gave you a free pair of N800s or 802Ds which would you choose and why?

I asked a dealer that question - at the time he had an 802D and a N800 in his auditioning room. He said 802D was the better speaker.

For looks I guess N800 as long as it was in that red finish. For sound the 802D although if I could not tell the difference it would be tricky (I did not hear an A/B, he knew I could only afford 804s).

I have 802D's. Love them. The obvious improvement is the Diamonds tweeter. Very sweet, and easy to listen to. The other improvements in the Diamond line (like the updated bass drivers) are also very good.

I might get more bass with N800's, but I don't think I would trade off the other areas of the 802D's.

And the 800's would simply be too big in our room.

                  Hope this helps.

While the 802D improves things across the board the N800 might be better balanced. Without the benefit of a side-by-side comparison I might lean towards the N800.

802D but only because my room is too small for the N800.
