Hi, I was just wondering if any B&W owners use Pass Labs amps, in particular the x350.5? I an really intrigued by this amp and the wonderful things I have read about it, especially its warm, "tube like" sound. Any feedback as to how well the Pass Lab amps would work on B&Ws would be greatly appreciated.
Using Pass Labs amps to drive B&Ws?

My dad just bought an X250 to power his N802s. He says it's the best he's heard so far.
Other amps used with the N802s prior:
Audio Research D130 (my system)
Sonic Frontiers Power 3 Monos (my system)
Levinson 333 (my system)
BAT VK-500
Levinson 333

I've just added the Pass Labs preamp X1 to my system and I would agree with the statement that it added warmth to my system. Probably Amps would follow suite.- Bottom

Guys,
I'll leave this here for a day or so them move it to where it should be in the Audio Hideout forum as it has NOTHING to do with B&W

Aussie Geoff:
As a guest to this forum I completely respect your decision though I disagree with it. I would think that asking other B&W owners how a particular component interacts with their speakers is relevant. The whole point of this forum (I think) is to share our experiences with B&W so that others can benefit. If Pass Labs components are totally horrible with B&W then this information would be helpful to people.
I guess I am little confused what is considered relevant to this forum and what is not. For example, there was a thread started not too long ago asking what to upgrade next (speakers, electronics, cables, etc). The only thing about this thread that applies to B&W was the fact that the poster has 804S speakers. He was not asking what B&W speaker to upgrade next. Another person asked for a warm and sweet amp for this 703 speakers. Another asked what Rotel to drive his 803's. Several people have asked about what amp to use with 802's. How are these posts any different from this thread?
I am not trying to be argumentative. I really enjoy this forum and just want to understand what the guidelines are so everyone can benefit.
Aussie Geoff here - OK - I am going to edit your original post to make it more clearly B&W related...

tboooe,
I got a tip from someone else in the forum who has Krell and B&W's and they said that the Pass labs added warmth.
I felt they were a little bright and now its more like a tube setup.- Bottom

I could easily see that conclusion based on the switch. Classe to Pass might be another story...Originally posted by misterdoggyI got a tip from someone else in the forum who has Krell and B&W's and they said that the Pass labs added warmth.

I thought the BAT was TOO laid back and warm when used with the 802s, so much so that the music lacked "life." IMHODanish- Bottom

Curious Danish, your dad uses Pass Labs and you use Classe'. If I remember correctly you handed your 802N's to your dad which he later sold. At the time you/he owned them (802N's) which brand of amplifier would you say you found more to your liking, Pass or Class?Originally posted by dyazdaniI could easily see that conclusion based on the switch. I gave my 802s to my dad, he still has them (up for sale at one time, but decided to keep 'em).Originally posted by RebelManCurious Danish, your dad uses Pass Labs and you use Classe'. I have a Classe' pre/pro but neither of us have used a Classe amp. Eliav on the forum has CAM400s with his 803S, he lives around the corner from me. That's actually the only Classe amp I've ever heard.Danish- Bottom

by BlessediHi, I am using the N803 now with a 70W YBA 2HC, am contemplating to change amp for a different/better sound. I had these brands in mind, Mark Levinson (434, 432, 336), Jeff Rowland (Model 8 or 10), and Pass Labs(X250, XA100).
Could anyone who have used or heard these amps perform on N803...-

by CP-MikeI'm trying to decide between these two amps for my 2-channel system that will eventually become a 5-channel system. I've heard many many great things about the JC-1's on this forum and elsewhere, and I've heard great things about the X350.5 elsewhere. However, I've read of two people who compared...-

by Dave999I am finalizing my choice for amps for B & W 800ds. I am looking at the Classe CAM 400, the Pass Labs 300.5 and the McIntosh 500 w per channel amps. Any thoughts from any of you who have these as to which are the best? Thanks.-
