    XTC for rear?

    Hi there,

I just curious if it is better to use XTC instead of XT2 for rear channels?
    Coz:
    1. It has 2x5" mid/bass instead of 1x5" mid/bass,
    2. It has lower frequency range (40Hz instead of 46 Hz).

Does it worth to pay extra US$500 for XTC(2x) instead of XT2(2x) for rear?

    Thx

Perhaps if you could tell us more about the rest of your gear (i.e. are we talking about surrounds or actual rears (5.1 0r 7.1) do you have a sub, what bass management capabilities do you have?, and your preferences in program material (movies or hi rez music) we could be in a better position to make suggestions.

Well, it's always hard to judge if it's worth it for you... As you noticed, the XTC has slightly better specs, but only you can really know if that's worth $500. FWIW, I don't think it will be a marked difference. Especially in movies where the surrounds are not often used to their full range.
If you listen to a lot of DVD-A or SACD's, then it might be worth it - but then XT4's all around would be even better... You know you want it!

        Jerry,
Right now I have stereo set up in my living room (B&W Matrix 802 S3 with Odysseys monoblocks). My plan is move my stereo set up to second room (originally is for internet and office use, with the computer, and desk, bk cases, etc will be jammed into my master bedroom!).
By the end of February, I'll set up a 5.1 home theater system @ my living room (12'6"x18'). Right now I have my wish list:
        Receiver:Arcam Avr300 or Denon 3806
        Front channels:B&W XT4
        center: XTC
        surround:XTC or XT2
        sub:cannot decided yet
        Projector:Panasonic PT-AE900
        Screen:cannot decided yet
        dvdp: cannot decided yet

The above set up is 80% HT, 20% music

        Thx

Where did the XTC center go? (no longer on B&W site)
          by Ethan06
          Hey guys
So I'm just about to order an all XT setup for my shoe box in the sky now that the new XT8s are here but the whole XT range is now filed under Hi-Fi instead of home theater and the XTC center is no where to be found!

Do you think this is just a temporary category relocation...

Diamond Signatures with XTC and XT4's ????
          by ljs1228
          Hi Everyone,

I presently am running four XT4's as my fronts and rears along with an XTC for the center and a PV1 Sub. I have just ordered two Signature Diamonds in the wakame finish and am wondering what everyone thinks if I leave the center and rear speakers as they are? Do you think...

          using XTC together with M-1's?
          by stella52
          Hello

I would like to buy following set:

          center: XTC
          fronts: M-1
          surrounds: M-1
          sub: PV-1

I will mainly use it to watch TV and movies so I don't want to spend too much money on the fronts and surrounds. I also want to wall-mount everything....

          XTC center speaker

          Hey,

I have a problem with my XTC speaker. Yesterday I was watching a movie with a lot of dialogue. Sometimes I could hardly understand what they were saying.

Is the SQ of this speaker really that bad??

The problem is in the XT series there is only...

          rear firing tweeters
          by cinema bob
so I've looked around for info on designing speakers with rear firing tweeters for added ambiance and haven't found anything. I know that Jon has done a design or two with them and would like some info.
are they worth the time and effort to add or do they add so little that they are not worth...
