I dont no if is a dealer (but I dont think..) -> is a lucky man $$$$$$$
but a Nautilus vs. the 800D: I prefer go with th e 800D. The Nautilus is the same from a lot of years......and the 800D can sure the same (in performance).
I a very amazing sistem but the MC, the classe, the halgro... Too much brands for a sistem...
hey is sure a "unicum", dont "available" for and in every home :B

Aldo's system, as great as it is in terms of equipment list and quantity and components used, it is fairly obvious that his setup needs major reconfiguration to sound good at best. There are several setups in this thread alone that dont have nowhere near the caliber of the equipment list he has, that I'd take in a second over aldo's, just simply for integration, setup, level matching and calibration, and room correction (position, sound traps, etc).
it's an awesome sight for pictures and posting on an internet forum, but for pure acoustic delivery and performance, not so much- Bottom

I agree also. It takes more then just equipment. This is not directed towards Aldo, or anyone for that matter. But you can't just take the best speakers and the best amps, plop them down and expect perfection. I may be a novice to this world, but I do understand what ssabripo previously said about "integration, setup, level matching and calibration, and room correction (position, sound traps, etc)" and how greatly it impacts what you hear.Bowers & Wilkins 683 Speakers

@Relentless & BWLover:
-> I think it is the Nautilus speakers that always catch my eye: ok, best and
without speaker from the same level/technology :T
the Nautilus are the top on the brochure but the 800D give you more satisfaction!!!
the Nautilus are "only" a product from B&W to say at the World:
I have a speaker really special, the only one !- but from when they did the first drawings for the production of Nautilus (when years ago? 10?) nothing has changed!
with 800D B & W has obtained information from customers, have made several tests ...((their own and also by the trade press)
My personal taste: I prefer the 800D! :W

They had the Nautilus playing at my local store for a special event with 4 Classe Cam400s for the mids and lows, then a 2200 running the tweeters. It was in a treated room and I was really excited to finally hear the fabled speaker. Dave Nauber from Classe ran the demo. They were very nice, but not the "wow" I was really expecting...maybe that is part of the problem, my expectations were too high. Dave played a great Nora Jones song I had not heard, so I went and bought it and played it at home...I preferred the 800Ds all the way. Not scientific and just my opinion of course!- Bottom

yes i have listen at the B&W Switzerland center more combination:
1. Nautilus powerd with classe CA5200 x 2 - 1 for speaker . CP700 - CDP202
2. 800D powerd with 2 x CA2200 in bi-amp. - CP700 - CDP202
3. dito but 2 x CAM400
4. HT sistem with 802D mains, Htm2D and 803D rear,805s Sback (855sub), 1xCA5200 for center, rear&Sback, 2 x cam400 for the 802D mains.
Decitated room with isolation, room pannel,...
Setup 1 to 3 for the Pure Stereo fans, HT is only a squacht - marketing business for Classe and B&W
Differente power but the sound is always Classe "stamp".
I dont say that the Nautilus is not a good speaker but the 800D has a sound more established a direct impact with the listener and more enjoyable. (with jazz, rock,blues,...)
The Nautilus need a setup very well done for having the best.
Like you have wrote the Midrange from the Nautilus give more or give a differente "pleasure": is too a personal taste, but the nautilis "need" the "cabinet" where you have the connection from every sound (HF,Mid,LF, and all hat is in the middle..) = every piece is difffernte: the woofer give you a sensation not like a 80xD classic "bang sound"...
You must listen and you go see yourself....
Bi-amp you get total control over all frequencies, with the CAM400 get a good sound, very good but lacks details that bi.-amp offers ....
not changed because there is no improvement needed
the "new" 800D don't have a revolution inside ( xover,...) new looks but a 800D "old" is a good investment !!! Evolution is not a Revolution
KahunaCanuck have too more pleasure with the 800D -> enjoy with this great speaker! :W
With the HT and a good Action-movie you have sure a good sensation:
explosion, guns, cars crash... = a Classe & BW combo give you a very good pleasure... now with the HD coding is very amazing but a Pure 2 channel sistem is another history....the sound fron the guitar, from the sound of the violin give you really the chills :T :T- Bottom

What is the Norah Jones song?
The room that blew me away was the McIntosh/Vienna Acoustics room, they had the MCD500 CD/SACD player through the C500 preamp driving MC1.2ks feeding "The Music" with $80k in Transparent cables. Total room price was $175k cdn. Goofy I know, but I had never heard Vienna Acoustics before and they were very impressive. Obviously nice stuff backing it up as well.

Although I have lots of work to do and I am nowhere near ready here are a few pics. I want to change a lot of stuff in the room but at least all the speakers are here now and finally I will have my 9.2 set up.
A total of 4 803Ds and a pair of SCMS (height channel) for surrounds.
And next week I am going to receive two of these bad-boys for a total of 4X15" drivers run by a 5000W external amp by QSC.

Hehe! To be honest I ordered the SCMS 2 months ago only because I knew they are going to change the line. I am glad I did since I like to play with height speakers and those are not being made anymore. From what I have heard till now though and in some Prologic IIz systems I am not impressed at all though. Oh well.....I am not even going to use them for some time since my pro does not support 9.2.
BTW I love your Macs and would like to test them one day but for the moment I will stay with my Electrocompaniet Nemos for L&R a Bryston 14BSST on the HTM1D and full PA amps for the surrounds since I have spent quite a lot and times are not the best.- Bottom

Hi Kahuna,
I was also at this event!! Those Vienna's were certainly impressive but as you said...pushed by alot of expen$$ive power, HIFI anniversary? I was there the second night...good times. That room was one of the ones i definitely remembered.- Bottom

I will get another NEMO in the future since I agree it will be a perfect match but right now I am trying to finish with the speakers and powering all of them even in the most basic way. For example I need 3 more power amps - one for the back 803Ds (powered by an Onkyo AVR now - very weak!), one for the SCMS and a big PA 5000 Watts for the new subwoofers I am expecting anytime now. Yet, I need to switch my Onkyo 905 to at least a new Onkyo SC5507 till I am able to get something better. The side 803Ds are powered by a Crown XLS 802D with 500 Watt @ 8ohm.
As you can see I have months of work ahead me and that does not even include the work in progress on the picture side of things. But no problem at all! I am enjoying every step and will keep doing so.
Regarding the NEMO, knock wood, all is working fine but I have heard that some have issues.- Bottom

JargonGR,
Those Raven subs - I read about them being a new product a year or so ago on another site, but then never heard anything about them. Do you have a website? They look unique and compact. Your setup looks great.- Bottom
Comment

They are not going to production at all after all and all the pictures and references of them have been removed since the guy that made them decided so. He is not going to produce any more of those and he will focus on another design that might be produced (maybe!).
It took me a year of waiting till I get them (still at the tax office) and they cost me about $9,000 including taxes and shipping. On top of that they are passive and they require a massive amp to get the best out of them like the QSC RMX 5050.
Finally they are not that compact as they look since each hosts 2X 15" driver and they are about 80cm high by 60cm diameter weighing about 70-80Kg each. Actually they are quite big.
Yet, according to the measurements I have seen they are amazing and they go very low at usable output.
I hope I will have them this week to post pictures next to the 800Ds so you can get an idea of their size that I have only been described so.- Bottom

Thanks, Jargon. That's a little steep for those, but I suppose it depends on their output, depth, footprint and finish. Outside power is nice though.
Ok, back on task...
I listened to my B&W's last night. They sound wonderful - back on original Sunfire amp. I played with them a bit more on the D-sonic and wasn't as disappointed as I was before - I guess my ears were getting used to the new sonic signature. When I switched back to the Sunfire things once again sounded strange, foreign. The sound wasn't lifeless, but a bit more tamed up top. It lost some of its sparkle up top perhaps. I listened for a while with mostly classical and never grew fatigued though and wanted to listen to one more song. So I guess I'm back in "the zone" and in my temporary sonic bliss. I do think the extra top end detail is kinda cool, so perhaps I need to try a Classe or similar at some point. Also, the bass from the Sunfire didn't sound as drawn back as I expected. Still strong, but perhaps not as much so as with the D-sonic. In the end I think I'm on the right path without the D-sonic, but I'd actually welcome the unit back again for more listening, perhaps on a non-Diamond B&W unit next time. I've actually got 805S coming to me that perhaps would pair up nicely with a little box full of major Class D power.
