HTM1 center speaker tilt
SRT-10 Viper,
Believe it or not, I used 2-inch thick blocks of foam rubber (about three), stacked under the center rear of the HTM1, which raised it about 4-5 inches in the back. To prevent the front end from sliding (which it was doing), I bought little square rubber sticky feet at Radio Shack and stuck them along the front edge of my shelf. Four of them did the job.
Low-tech, but it works!

hope this goes thru
My first post here, I use to frequent this forum when I was deciding on what to get. Anyway, I hope the pic goes thru.
This is my first setup - so yes I am a newbie. I got a pair of used N805's and I just added the HTM2 last month (Suprisingly, I found a new HTM2 pretty cheap at a local dealer). Nothing spectacular on the components, Denon 3805 proc/amp, Denon 2910 DVD, Pioneer Elite CD changer, Hughes HD 250 Direct TV box.
I already have the upgrade bug and was contemplating on getting full towers. I was thinking of trying to find a pair of used 803's at audiogon along with a McCormack DNA amp or something.
Or I might just wait until I need to replace all the other components - another year maybe for HD DVD or Blu Ray, along with a new 1080p monitor. Hopefully I can wait that long.
While I am posting, does anyone know of a good receiver that can do HDMI switching, does Anthem or Rotel have this now? Also anybody here pair up 803's with McCormack 225's? - or a setup close to it?
Thanks,
TEC- Bottom

Wow, that's a beautiful room and a BIG plasma! Is your center tilted downwards? It seems very high. Well, you have a very nice room. Nice job.
By the way, are you Japanese? I see the shoes by the door, and I don't see a lot of Americans that take of their shoes before entering their homes.B&W 804S/Velodyne SPL-1000R/Anthem MRX720- Bottom

Beautiful set up, I really like what you've done with your space. The Pioneer Elite 74txvi does HDMI switching. The receiver will also let you use your iPod while displaying the iPod menu on your TV. I currenly own this receiver and am very happy with it's performance to date.texasbwfan- Bottom

Thanks for the comments. I am really feeling the upgrade bug today, especially after looking at all the systems posted here.
I am pleased with the setup and have enjoyed it from day one - it is really good for HT, but not for music. If you look at the right corner I have a SVS sub that is too "boomy" for music. I have messed with it so many ways but I think a 2.1 setup with this sub and the 805's are just too small for the room. I am really considering the 803's.

Thanks! I just looked into the Pioneer unit. Looks like it fits the bill, i do like the iPod feature, also looks like it can receive XM signal? Are you receiving the XM signal on yours? Do you need a special antenna or anything? I will definitely have to consider this, although i was looking at staying away from the flagship receivers and going separates. What speakers are you driving with this receiver? Thanks again - tec.- Bottom

Tec,
I've not used the XM functionality of the receiver. In order to use this feature, you need to buy a seperate antenna at a cost of approximately $50. In addition to the antenna, you also need to pay the monthly XM subscription fee. The speakers I'm currently using are 805S as front l/r, htm3s center, and an asw675 sub. At the time of purchase, going seperates was not an option for me due to cost. I've had the receiver for three months now...only issue I have is with the supplied remote. I'd like to eventually purchase the Harmony 880 remote to take it's place.texasbwfan- Bottom

Misterdoggy, why do you bother? That amp looks weak and puny! lol jk Look at that sexy looking amp... I'm jealous. So I never heard you answer someone else's question. IS the glass bending because of the weight? Congrats.B&W 804S/Velodyne SPL-1000R/Anthem MRX720- Bottom

Go ahead, I don't care if you put it as a wall paper. If you asked, I might even give you the high res version. That way, you can make it a huge poster against one of the wall.
Send us pictures of your home with the new wall paper. I believe we will have quite a kick out of it.- Bottom

My humble 2ch midfi system
Here is my humble 2ch only setup. This system has been stable for a few months now which is a major record for me since I am an upgrade fanatic! I am planning for a major upgrade path over the next 2 years though. The preamp, amp, and speakers will be replaced. The only things that will stay are the Cary cdp and Sonos digital music system.
Thoughts are much appreciated.- Bottom

Thanks for the response guys.
Grit, I cant move the speakers much more forward. The room i am in is pretty narrow. If I move them much more forward I will be sitting less then 6ft away. As for the upgrade...not sure yet. All I know is that I want to take the next step up with everything except the cdp. Hopefully this next setup will last me a while. I am still trying to figure out my own listening tastes but I get a sense I am moving away from the B&W sound and leaning towards a warmer more romantic presentation. I just listened to some Audio Physic Avanti speakers with BAT electronics...very nice, mellow, and warm without loss of detail. They were very easy to listen to. As for the electronics, I am leaning towards Plinius, Ayre, BAT, or Classe. Again, I am looking for something more mellow and smooth.
Joey V: I heard some Martin Logans last week..spectacularly clear and real. The imaging and presentation of vocals was soooooo nice. Do you use a sub with your ML?- Bottom

However, I am considering getting an SVS PB12+/2 for infrasonic support, but I'm not sure yet.
I agree with you, these NEW MLs are super sounding and completely non-congested.. which is a problem for even the higher priced conventional dynamic speakers I've found out.
At the moment, I'm trying to upgrade the amp to a Rotel RB1090 - still waiting for a used one to pop up.
BTW, are you considering ML as a possible upgrade? If so, you GOTTA go with the Summits... bar none, if powered correctly and backed with the right upstream electronics (DAC, CDP, interconnects)... they are UNREAL. ;x(Analog: VPI Scoutmaster w/ Steel Delrin clamp + Dynavector 20XH cart

Looks great tboooe. You guys with the 2-channel only setup have it so nice. Easy to dedicate the room for just audio. There are so many times I want to go towards 2-channel only because it would be so easy to pick out the items and reposition the room just for 2-channel listening, but then I realize that I watch to many movies, so I'm stuck figuring out the best balance for music and movie, and how my room can be configured for movies while still maintaining my 2-channel on par. Nice setup though.B&W 804S/Velodyne SPL-1000R/Anthem MRX720- Bottom

joeyv:
i am not considering the ML because of their size (the wife would not like them at all...) and because of the fact that I am looking for a warmer sound. I am willing to give up some detail in order to get a more romantic, laid back sound. If I was focused on clarity and resolution, then the ML would be top on my list.- Bottom

I share your opinions about moving from B&W speakers to other brands. Try looking at Aerial Acoustics and Thiel Audio. Beware though, both are difficult loads to drive, and the Thiel's are VERY picky about placement. As for electronics, I'm a bit hooked on Classe right now. My next upgrade (I have on in process, so this will be later on) would be a Classe amp. I'll hold off on the pre-pro and DVD until HD-DVD/Blueray is settled and the new pre-pro can decode Dolby-HD/Dolby-Lossless.- Bottom

grit, thanks for the input. i will check out those brands. also on my shortlist is sonus faber cremona. have you listened to these? what kind of sound are you after?
