    Dayton RS-180's Shielded and Unshielded

I have been wanting to build the the Modula MTM, Nat P, or the standard PE kit. The problem I got is PE is out of the shielded woofer version until may 8O . So I am weighing out some options.

Can the unshielded version be substituted in the Modula MTM or Nat P design?

PE does have the Dr. K kits without cabinets in stock. I could buy the kits and scrap the crossovers. Are the DR. K crossovers at that much of a disadvantage to the Modula or Nat P?

Any help would be greatly appreciated... Jeff

PE has a spreadsheet posted on their forum you may find informative, as well as independent testing by Paul and opinions by others...

I'll be doing some comparisons between the shielded and non shielded versions of the RS180 soon, -maybe today if time allows.

I tested these a few months back in my WWMTM's (which have pretty finicky crossover work) and found the match to be excellent - well within tolerance for any single product line. Back to back measurements and listening.

Here's the modeled box sim of 2 shielded and 2 non shielded drivers in the same vented enclosure and tuning: Well within tolerances of the same driver, let alone S and NS.

Are this confirmed information from PE? Will the shielded drivers be back in may?
I thought they where out of production like forever

It's always reassuring to see Curt end up with the same results I did.

Hi everyone. I'm new and i'm Italian, so sorry if i make some mistake typing.

I would build i center channel for my system. The requirement are (as in the title) 8 ohm impedance and shielded drivers.

Alright, this is the first DIY project in a while. I made the Adire KIT51 a few years back and a subwoofer enclosure last year. Got the itch recently and went ahead and ordered most of the parts for the Modula MT and got them today. Took out a lot of unnecessary stuff for the layout. All the parts should...

                    Nat P vs Modula MT
                    by areyousure
First time HT build planned. Wondering about Nat P vs. Modula MT. Looks to me as though the Nat P's will cost about $50 per speaker more than the Modula MTs. I have heard that they play louder -- in my current room (wood/brick w/ paper thin walls ... and neighbors) that doesn't really matter. But...

I own three Dayton RS WTMW centers as mains. Something very bad has happened and i am forced to replace six RS225's and three RS150's. Can i just drop in unshielded drivers where shielded ones were.....Thank you
